I have noticed a number of freshmen and RS freshmen playing on defense this season...

Lampkin has seemed to play very well...

With those kids, and what we are expecting to come with 2017, we could be very solid in the coming years...

The question: can Mike Stoops coach them to full potential?

Hard to say how, or if, Mike Stoops can mold these young defensive players and the ones coming in next February. It will take at least a year for true freshman to establish themselves, so the answer to your question may best be applied to 2018.
That could change if OU can get at least one more defensive tackle from the JUCO ranks.

With Mike Stoops, individual, team and NCAA records will still fall against his defense.

Mike Stoops would mess up Bama and Mich defense.

This board's defensive coach experts have spoken: Mike Stoops cannot coach subjectively rated talent to their full potential! This is obvious.

Bring back Venebles! Oh man, wait. That guy sucks too!

I've been very critical of Bob Stoops for not replacing his brother, but I'm not saying Mike can't do a good job for another school as long as it's a school not in the Big 12.....or perhaps the PAC. Perhaps he could be effective in the Big 10 or maybe the SEC. I would like to believe he could land somewhere but not sure he could get a DC gig immediately. Maybe. o_O

854 YARDS AND 59 POINTS...

Which part do you not understand? Record yards? Most points given up by any Sooner team not coached by John Blake?

I forgot about all those vaunted spread offenses of the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's that just racked up that stuff.

So there is another team that has given up 734 yards through the air in the last 20 years of the "air raid/spread" offenses? That must be why the record was 100 years old...

You know OU has hit a low point when some fans are defending the defensive coordinator making $800k + giving up 59 points and almost 900 yards of offense in one game and setting a record for the worst defensive performance in the history of the college game on National TV was a plus too :(

The low point is enduring the fans demanding a change not even a year removed from finishing in the Top 4 playoff and having the best defense in the conference.

The low point is giving up more yards than any John Blake coached team... I guess getting blown out by Clemson two years in a row satisfies your expectations. Best defense in the conference? Yep. And still gave up records. What does that tell you?

No, the low point is having fans who don't have a clue trying to tell everyone else that this team resembles the Blake teams. I can't believe there is anyone out there that believes that kind of over-statement. Just in the remote chance that you don't know how silly your post is let me remind you that John Blake was 12 - 22 for a less than 35% winning record. Blake's three years at OU were the most embarrassing period of time in OU football.

Do you have any idea how foolish it makes you look in the eyes of others when you make these outlandish type statements?

It doesn't resemble the John Blake teams, and nowhere does it suggest that. It is a fact, whether you acknowledge it or not, that this defense has given up records that had not been approached in decades, and one a full century. Did any Blake team give up 700 yards passing?

What is foolish is your inability to comprehend the English language...

Defensively, play this year is worse than the John Blake years. Defense has been horrible against the better teams. Offensively this years Sooners are very good except for the Houston and TOSU games.

But you don't have to. You can disappear and not partake in reading this and/or any other fan's message board. Mike can't coach any better. As fans were stuck w/ it and him. That's the difference.

Hey this so entertaining I can't resist reading it. I'm not going to repeat my thoughts on it. My mom died of Alzheimer's but I don't have it yet. So my question is why? Please come up with something worth reading that's not crying and whining. Kind of like what have you done for your teams success? Maybe carpal tunnel from clicking your remote so much or having a hangover. Bless your whining hearts.

Literally the only thing you post on this board anymore is to come on here and complain about what posters are posting about. If that's all you do, then why do you even log on here....ever?? Your life must be pretty miserable if you are getting on the internet to ***** and moan for your entertainment. Lol :D:D:D
