Which group will be at the top of the Liberal Victim hood Hierarchy?

A. Muslims
B. Homosexuals
C. African Americans
D. Hispanics
E. Women
F. Other

2016 proved that this is a losing formula for the left. It's gotten to the point to where they have so many different groups that exploiting one group more over the other that it is a conflict of interest. Example: Letting a portion of migrants in the country who want to murder gay people.

You left out a few aggrieved groups.

1. Asians
2. Millennials
3. Transsexuals
4. Atheists
5. Main Stream Media

The Dem party is now a coastal party. Elites on the east and west coast drive the party. As the NY Times Executive Editor mentioned in an interview on NPR, we just don't understand the deeply religious in this country. What a statement from the nations largest, most important paper. The party has been so decimated, particularly at the state level, they have a very, very shallow bench. And the bench they do have are from the coasts and simply can't relate to middle America. Now, they are going to appoint as the head of the DNC, Keith Ellison, a bigot and Jew hater. Wow. Even Alan Dershowitz, a deeply liberal Jewish icon, can't believe the Dems would do this. They seem to be doubling down on going further left. Amazing.

I imagine you're smart enough to realize that not all people that support efforts to help ensure equality and liberty for those groups you mentioned are doing so to win elections or personal profit. The list of groups that were not being given equal opportunities and were in need of assistance from larger groups with a louder voice was much larger. Irish Americans, Italian Americans for example faced descrimination from work and politics. Even the working class needed the help of the union voice at one point in US history to ensure their rights were protected.

The Democrats are in shock right now I imagine. That election was a pretty powerful punch right in the mouth. A lot of this early craziness will die down in my opinion. If Trump succeeds, Dems will have to get crazy in order to be relevant again. It will be the republican conservatives versus the Trump republicans for the next decade st least.

There is no question that there will be times when conservatives will fight Trump. Trump is trying to remake the party into a conservative populist party. Many in the GOP, don't like that a bit. I can easily see Trump cutting deals in some cases with Democrats more so than with Republicans.

Trumps strategy centers around economics. He is trying to create more jobs and drive up wages. To do this he needs two things. More demand for labor and less supply of labor. Thus, the wall combined with significant immigration reform. We have far too many unskilled laborers as it is. He is combining this strategy with the jawboning of companies to grow their businesses and factories in the United States. He is providing incentives like significant tax reform and repatriation of overseas profits. He is dangling the stick of tariffs on companies that move labor out of the country and then try to sell their products back into the United States. Thus he is hoping to increase the demand for labor creating more jobs and causing wages to rise. If he is successful, it will create a brand new paradigm in the GOP.

But if the Democrats insist on moving even further left than they currently are, I don't see how they ever retake the house or the Senate. There are simply too many states that don't agree with their agenda.

We were all young and in college at one time. Then we graduate, get jobs, get families and our life changes. When life changes so does our ideology. Married women for example vote GOP. Single women, vote Democrat. College kids have always been liberal. And except during the Obama years, they have a tough time showing up at the polls.

Depends on if your ideology is driven by the conditions of your life, or if the conditions of your life are driven by your ideology.

Interesting perspective. There is an old adage that a liberal is a conservative who hasn't yet been mugged.

Trump's challenge will be keeping the grass roots activists who helped elect him happy by busting up the Republican establishment, while keeping the establishment types he needs to get his legislation passed on his side.

It's not an easy task, but it is doable because most folks hate the Party and everything it stands for. He (Trump) knows this, but by default he is in charge of protecting the very party apparatus that's in large part responsible for his Governing majority.

So, he has to keep that together for now so he can govern and legislate, but he doesn't owe them any favors like past politicians. In many ways, he was sent there by the voters to destroy them and the system that protects their power and influence. If his agenda is successful, their power and influence will be reduced or possibly virtually eliminated.
