OU is sitting pretty sweet right now. Ranked Nationally at #2. For those wanting more Texas recruits, you're getting them w/ 6 of the 11 commits hailing from Texas. Stoops & Co have also locked down the top three recruits in Oklahoma as well. We're pretty stocked at WR in this class doing well at DB as well. There seems to be something special going on w/ this class as well. It appears they're actually doing alot of serious recruiting in their own right. I like it.

Amazing turnaround from two years ago.

OU had the #1 ranked player Marvin Wilson at their camp I believe last week. He's a DT out of Houston. He looked like a man among boys and made all others looked pretty weak. Unfortunately, I think the odds of his attending OU are slim to none and Slim left town. But he'd look damn good in Crimson.

I believe he has an official visit with an OL teammate we're looking at. He likes Coach Calvin T. As mentioned, he is being recruited by the current 2017 commits. Never say never...........

Edit: It looks like Hunter Rison, WO (son of Andre Rison), has canceled this weekends visit. Looks like we may be done at wide receiver.......

What really stands out about this class so far isn't the lack of a 5 star...no no, it is the gaudy number of four stars at 9.
I'm inclined to believe that championship teams are largely built around those, not the rare 5 you may get.
It's a crap shoot.

This far out leaves a lot of chances for defectors, but that can happen anytime before national signing day, and does.

I think Marvin Wilson, DT, out of Houston is the #1 recruit in the whole nation, per many sites. I'll take this 5 star.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Adrian Peterson was the #1 in is year.

Get ur done.......

No, not dissing five stars fellows at all.
We have had our fair share of washouts like everyone else.

You're right, when you do get one that lives up to and beyond potential, like AD, it's just a sheer pleasure to see.
Darn it all, AD became a true iron man after he left OU. Can you imagine if he hadn't been dinged up almost half his career at OU?

What might have been...:(

Count me as one that is relieved to see Texas kids jumping at playing at OU still. Hopefully the 2016 class will go down as just an anomaly in so few Texas kids being in a class. But this may be the best start Bob Stoops has ever had in a class. So far it's really loaded. But there is still a LONG way to go till signing day. But this start to the class is something to be excited about for sure. We had heard years ago that recruiting efforts at OU had gotten stale with some of the departed staff in previous years, and the last 2-3 years Bob had started to really put more effort and focus on recruiting again with his new staff. Looks like it's taken a couple of years, but it's really paying off right now. But glad to see OU's pipeline into Texas is still as strong as ever!!!

OU's long established Texas pipeline seems to have been jump-started for 2017.
It has been my believe that since the Wilkinson days, Texas high school talent is the life blood for OU's success in football. Not only is the level of talent within Texas as high or higher than any other state, geography means that the players from Texas are more apt to have a better appreciation and respect for OU's football legacy having lived in the shadow of the OU program.
Cherry picking nationwide is a good thing....and OU has reaped some great players from California, Florida and other places....but it is not a policy that OU can focus MOST of its recruiting efforts on over recruiting in Texas.

I agree CT, but it didn't just jump start by itself. People make a difference. Just a couple of years ago, it was said OU couldn't recruit Texas because of the B12 vs SEC sentiment. A&M was riding high etc. The difference is attitude and that attitude changed when Bob Stoops got busy changing Coaches. I'ts made a huge difference in the energy of the program and it's clearly showing. On and off the field.

Excellent point, WNAS.
OU's coaching staff upgrades and a magic 2015 season has made OU a force again in Texas.
It has helped that TAMU is struggling and beating Baylor and TCU was huge.....and despite the strange and disappointing loss to Texas in early October, OU has regained a good foothold in Texas.

Have to remember that these kids are 4 star athletes as juniors, I am willing to bet some of them become 5 star before its all said and done. I will be coaching against the OL from Mckinney so will get first hand experience on how good he is.

I think one of the reasons recruiting is outstanding is because of the seasons success. Baker 4th in the Heisman, Sooners in the 4 team playoff, and now OU basketball is getting all this exposure. Oklahoma has been a focal
point on ESPN lately. I think the new coaches are great but keep winning and the recruiting should be top 10 every year. Some poster on OB's says now Alabama, LSU and maybe Standford is Texas main recruiting competition. I gutess they're counting on little Casanova to flip them in December.
I have a good feeling about the final 4 for today. I think we win today and move on. Boomer Sooner

Yep, there's nothing like a national buzz about your brand name that will help more in recruiting.
We can also look for Kruger to land some fellows that otherwise wouldn't have had OU on their radar before the tournament started.

These are some of the good old days that we shouldn't take for granted.
It's all good.
Oh, I too feel pretty strong about the big W this evening.
