2017 schedule.

I know a lot of fans are pointing to 2017 as the big year for UK.

But the schedule isn't conducive to UK winning big.

Three of our winnable SEC games are on the road. South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State.

Ole Miss comes to Lexington. Not optimistic about that.

And oh yeah, we gotta go to Hattiesburg in the opener. Great decision to agree to a home and home with Southern Miss.

Maybe 2018 will be our year.

But it sets up perfectly for a make or break year for Stoops. If we have legitimately turned the corner then beating USM, Vandy, SC, on the road shouldn't be an issue with where they are now and their outlooks for next year. MSU will be a tough game on the road. We need to start being competitive with UGA, UT, UF, UofL and winning at a minimum 1 of those a year; preferably 2. That leaves 2 cupcakes and Mizz/ole miss at home which we should at least split.

That means if we've really turned a corner then 7 wins should be the bar. Below means you've under achieved and above means you over achieved and either won at MSU, won both of the Mizz/ole miss games, or won 2 or more of the top 3 east teams plus Louisville all while winning the ones we should win.

I'd be ok with Stoops getting fired for 6 or less next season but 6 probably gets him a shot at 2018 at least.

Personally I thought wed have a better shot this year. South Carolina won't stay down for long. They're out recruiting us every year and its only a matter of time before they get back to where they were a few years back. Vandy is about the only team we can rely on to remain about as bad as they are now.

Things may seem bleak right now, but wait until next summer. It's always the Summer of Bliss for the UK fandom. Predictions of 8 wins start rolling out. Predictions of probable wins against Miss State, South Carolina, Vandy, AND UL. Good chances to pull that upset of either Florida, Georgia, or Tennessee. Players are bigger, stronger, faster, blah, blah, blah. Our new coaches (the ones that just replaced the fired ones) will overcome the talent deficit by outsmarting every other coach.

Yep, it is always a summer of bliss on this board.

our recruiting already is about half as good as it was the past few seasons ......... and its going to get worse as long as stoops is failing .. He could only promise hope and sunshine for so long. So we let Stoops eff over next year too..... and finally the idiots in charge figure it out and make a move... well guess what.. that next coach doesnt have any of our better players to start with because they've all graduated and he has to start completely over recruiting. SO another 2-3 years of sucking aZZ just to see if the new one's a capable coach.
