Far fetched is an understatement, Murphy hasnt finished with less than 7 regular season wins since 2006 and hasn't finished outside the top 3 in the SMC since 2003. The mid 00's were the worst down period in Gentry's entire tenure at Murphy, mainly because participation was at an all time low.

I can tell you right now that this year's team would have to have unbelievably bad luck (serious injuries, transfers, key kids not playing) to be that bad.

I'll make you a deal, if Murphy finishes with 6 or less regular season wins and outside the top 3 in the SMC this season I will never post on this board again.

This is completely wrong. Why you giving Murphy such a down year? Why are you giving Hayesville such credibility?

I like the excitement coming from Hayesville but I wouldn't shoot that high just yet.

I'm a Hayesville fan and that will not happen this year. Hayesville might upset Andrews? Lol or Cherokee. They always play Swain really hard. I could see a close game with Swain. But Murphy will win by how many Gentry wants to.

As Dabbo would say Hayesville is on the R.O.Y. bus with Murphy, Robbinsville, Swain in that other bus

I think Hayesville will have a good year and finish with 6 wins. The non conference schedule sets up well and they host Cherokee and Andrews.

yes it is far fetched thats why i called it that, my honest opinion is not very far off though Murphy Finishes 3rd behind Robbinsville and Swain, Hayesville is still a year out but may not ever catch up bc Murphy and Swains numbers, and btw Murphys 1A recruit just happens to live in "Hayesville

Murphy gets so much hype bc they are a big fish in a little pond, they are terrible at youth football bc they havent got all Hiwassee dam,Martins creek, ranger and whatever players they wont from Andrews and Hayesville yet, Mugharbil lives in hayesville, chad woody, parker posey, kellen rumfelt and his brother all used to goto hayesville, thats just actives not counting in previous years Reid beal, the clapsaddle kid, colton posey, Chase teesateskie even lives in hayesville, no telling who all else i know in baseball the clapsaddle kid, and the barolets brothers also went to hayesville, and aubrey clapsaddle in girls

Nobody in small 1a wants to see Robbinsville with 500 kids. We do it with low numbers. I've watched the knights compete in 5 state title 5 years in a row. 3 wrestling and 2 football. If the softball team wins two more games it will be 6 teams competing for state title in 5 year period.if you average enrollment from 2,000 to now you will see that Robbinsville is smaller than Murphy, Swain, Hayesville, and Rosman. When we won the football title in 14 only 11 football playing schools were smaller than us in the state of nc.
Again nobody wants to see us with 500 kids.

Mughurbil - Has always went to Murphy. Fell under old district policy allowing kids to attend school if parents worked/owned business in Cherokee County.

Rumfelts - Live in Peachtree, never ever attended Hayesville. Went to Carolina Christian Academy, their father's church school.

Poseys - Always lived in Murphy. Went to Hayesville because their mother worked there.

Clapsaddles - Live less than a mile from MHS. Went to Hayesville because parents worked at school. Parents came back to County Scools, so did they .... Until Garrett went to Christ School.

I honestly don't know about Barolets situation.

Spot on. The only true transfers in the whole bunch are the Barolet brothers and they physically moved to Cherokee County.

As for Reid Beal, Reid's older brother Adam was going to school at Murphy at least as far back as 2012. So if Hayesville wants to claim Reid Beal, even though he's been at Murphy since he was little, have at it.

And for the record PantherPit07, Mugharbil doesn't live in Hayesville. He lives in Clay County (still Hayesville's district obviously) but not in Hayesville. He's actually closer to Peachtree, where his father practices medicine, than he is Hayesville.

Let's not act like Hayesville hasn't had their fair share of athletes from Cherokee County over the years. I can name several off the top of my head ranging from baseball to football to women's basketball. Baseball especially before Murphy built the program into what it's become.

One of the best baseball players Hayesville has ever had lived in Ranger: https://troytrojans.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=4145

i never said Hayesville was gonna dominate Murphy i just predicted a random upset is that so bad to predict that, you Murphy posters have beat yalls chest so long for beating up on smaller schools besides Swain, thats its getting to you head, do u not enjoy when Hayesville actually had a good rivalry you whine so much guess not, im so sorry Hayesville only gets to pull from a small pool of players and Murphy gets to pick a Allstar team from the counties multiple schools and all their transfers, but hats off to Robbinsville they dominate pulling from a small pool

well for the record Clay county only has one school and also for the record fires creek is still in hayesville and we dont have multiple schools to pull from, and yes the Rumfelts did play sports at Hayesville first just like the poseys, clapsaddles, beals, woodys, barolets, etc, and no your not getting the Gillis kid or McTaggart so keep trying maybe GA will send you some more
players

Poor little fella done went and got his panties in a bunch here in the month of May. Don't get so upset, with a running clock it'll be over in a short hour and a half.

I feel like its been since 2003 the last time we saw the conference totally up for grabs besides just maybe 3 teams competing. Its more entertaining that way to me. I mean heck even Rosman upset Hayesville that year in the playoffs after they lost 50-0 to them in the regular season.

Call me crazy but I’d like to see that kind of parity again in the SMC.

The small schools aren't going be able to compete regularly, except Robbinsville. It will remain the big 3s conference 95% of the time.

I often wonder what the Rosman coach told his players in 03 after getting beat 69-0 then told you were going to play them in the playoffs. I wonder how many kids were down about having to play Hayesville again. I wonder how many kids in the back of their mind were thinking great. But that coach came up with a game plan. His players bought in and finished the job. I still until this day admire that. No one really thinks about that. Everyone of them could have easily threw in the towel but wow what a story. Again coming from a Hayesville fan, I respect that 03 Rosman Team

You might be from Franklin but you have to live in Clay County now since all you post about is Hayesville athletics.

Franklin certainly didn't dominate Murphy last year (quite the opposite) and won't again for a while. The faithful in Macon County I've talked to say the Panthers will be down again this year. Good luck in 2020 too, nobody will want to see Murphy on their schedule next year.

The reason Franklin has had the advantage over Murphy most of the Brooks era is because for the most part they have been much better upfront. Murphy has their best run of linemen in years coming through right now so good luck with that.

I have a copy of the game on CD and fortunately I called the game on the radio that night.....Doubt we will ever see that kind of turn around again....For the record, that Tiger team was plagued with injuries all season long, and had a two week break at the end of the regular season before the playoffs started....Jim Fox made a change during that two week break by inserting Senior Cole Owen for the first time at Fullback, and Cole promptly rushed for 197 yards in the first half of that game when the Tigers took a big lead to the dressing room at halftime....Hayesville made a push in the 2nd half, but the Tigers held on to end the Yellowjackets 10 game winning streak 28-20....Before the game, I heard some Hayesville fans asking where the bonfire would be for the upcoming game with Swain County in the 3rd round of the playoffs after they beat Rosman....Don't know if the Rosman players knew about that or not prior to the game, but the kids were motivated to play the Yellowjackets that night after losing 50-0 at home on Homecoming in Rosman during the regular season....That Senior class of Tigers were special to me because I coached a lot of them back in Middle school when several of them played middle school basketball....Good group of younguns, and very competitive...

Probably had more to do with Hayesvilles mindset.

Spot on. Activities had been planned for the Swain game the following week. Some players who were nicked up were not started to try to heal. Jackets then scored on first play following the opening kickoff. Mentally the team moved on.

You also have to credit Rosman, they played well. The change at fullback caught HHS by surprise. The Tigers trapped the fool out of the Jackets till halftime as they built their lead. After the half Rosman was shut down on offense and just had to hang on.

On a side note the Jackets provided extra motivation for Rosman in the regular season matchup. The Jackets scored late in the game to make it 48-0. In the huddle for the PAT one of the players commented that 50 would look better than 49. The players on their own decided to go for 2. To the dismay of the Jacket staff it was successful.

Do y’all think Hayesville will ever field another team as good as that 2003 team? I’m a Black Knight fan, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the yellowjackets since some of my cousins played on those teams.
