I can't understand Thomasville dropping to 1A with an ADM of 638 and East Surry going up to 2A with an ADM of 588 and Polk ADM 614 goes 2A.

The other factors in the right hand columns are the determinants. ADM is now only one of the factors.

Thomasville is currently around 550 or so right now. Covid has really hurt their enrollment and this online academy mess the schools have been doing has not helped. The other factors mostly ISP is what put teams where they fell. If you look at the ISP for most of the schools that dropped or went up that are close in size it is based on that poverty score they implemented in the realignment process, An example is if you go off of size alone take a look at Thomasville and Trinity. They are less than 10 minutes from one another and if the numbers are correct fell within 10 kids of each other at 638 and 648. However, Trinity has an ISP of like 20% or less so it factored against them to stay in 2A while Thomasville at 56% moves down. Uwharrie Charter has 601 enrollment, a low ISP score and is bigger than E Surry and others going up to 2A but somehow stayed in 1A. I will let others talk about that and figure out how that happened.

Bottom line the NCHSAA has become more and more of a mess on an annual basis since Adams/Strunk left. Void a lot of common sense and playing games such as the pushing through of the removal of subdivisions when in reality most schools did not even vote on it.

They need a change in leadership. It has gone deeper in hell than ever before. I am all but done with following high school football. It is not the game of most of our time. They are lost and will not be found without a major takeover ! I used to get my photographer press passes from Strunk if I remember correctly, back from around 1990 to 1998......
