Yea something is up with him. He just missed the round of 12 a couple years ago. Hopefully just need’s matches. Seems like he’s running out of gas.

The good news is we have a couple of guys at the weight that can be good. I’ll cut him some slack though. He hasn’t wrestled in two years.

Yes. Davis is 3 and 0 today. Just majored Steen. He pinned Steen in a wrestle off last week in Rec hall. Not sure if Howard and Davis had a wrestle off.

Beau and Van Ness looking awesome today. Byers stating both have jumped to another level.

This is what I love hearing. Both have championship potential and I have been waiting for them (mainly Beau) to make the jump.

Regarding Pyles comment on Facundo and an ORS, don't you have to not be enrolled in classes to ORS? Or do I have that wrong?
Olympic Shirt waives the requirement to complete credits. Other than that, it's just like any shirt -- you're shirting until you compete attached.

For reference, Snyder and Kolodzik both had Olympic Shirts pulled mid-season -- so they had to have been in class.

Should Davis be our Starter at 125. Or am I reading into this to much
Yes, reading far too much into this. Steen was 6-15 last year and was by far Davis' toughest opponent. The other 2 guys are first-year wrestlers with unimpressive HS careers (one never placed at states).

The 2 guys Howard lost to: Ryder is a 3-year starter, 43-22 career (before today), twice fell 1 win at EIWAs short of making nationals; he'll probably be an NCAA qualifier this year. Gallagher is a true freshman, last year was NY state champ, top 3 nationally at his weight, and AA at both Fargo and Super 32. Significantly better competition -- though a healthy + rust-free Howard should've been 3-0 today.

Also, McHenry would presumably be next man up if Howard can't go. Davis is an excellent prospect, but no rush to get him into the lineup this year with our projected margin at nationals.

Also for those wondering Crookham took down Vito 8-4.
If you would have told me that a redshirt freshman was going to beat Arujau 8-4 without a fluke move, and Arujau being 100% healthy, I would have said.

But, Crookham is no joke. He is for real. Check out Crookham avoiding a takedown at the onset of the match. Not many wrestler's in Arujau's weight class could have avoided this takedown.

Why didn't Kasak or Mchenry wrestle?
Not sure on Kasak. He was on the entry sheet Saturday night but didn't compete Sunday. McHenry was never on the entry sheet. Let's see who they take to Army before drawing any big conclusions.

Correction, Franklin (and Yurcich) can’t hurt us today. Cael actually knows how to coach. (Unless you talk to those black and yeller wearin’ fools in the midwest who say Carl can only recruit.)😊
I appreciate the smiley face, but I suspect I'm not the only who comes here, in part, to get away from the toxicity of the football boards.

I'm setting this up a day in advance, so that everyone has the details.

Please use the thread for all pre-match, in-match, and post-match discussion for the 2023 Journeyman Collegiate Classic, and PSU's performance in such.

When:
Nov. 12, 9:00 am EST

Where:
Freedom High School, Bethlehem, PA

TV:
None

Video Streaming:
Subscribers of FloWrestling can access the video stream

Audio Streaming:
The radio PBP, with Jeff Byers at the mic, will be streamed for free. The pre-match portion of the broadcast will begin at 8:45 am EST, with the competition starting at 9:00 am EST. You can access the audio stream at:

PBP:
I'm out for PBP. Hopefully, many of you can step up and provide some coverage. As I always remind folks, posts are more helpful if they include the names of the wrestlers, scores, etc. Posts like "what a TD" provide more confusion than anything else, especially for a tournament that is not being televised.
Tom,

can you or any of the other posters comment on how the new rule changes impacted things at the tourney. We had a large number of majors & tech falls, so I assume those new rules impacted that, but I’d be curious of your thoughts / impressions regarding the matter.

Thx in advance for your comments.
