I'm setting this up the night before, so that everyone knows the plans, has the links, etc.

Please use the thread for all pre-session, in-session, and post-session discussion for the Session I of the 2023 NCAA Championships.

When:
March 16, 12:00 pm EDT

Where:
Bok Center, Tulsa, OK

TV:
ESPNU

Video Streaming:
ESPN+. Please note that this is the only way to get access to multiple mats. In past years, this was offered on ESPN3 (free to those that were ESPN subscribers), but this year you must have ESPN+, which is a subscription service.

Audio Streaming:
The radio PBP, with Jeff Byers at the mic, will be streamed for free. The pre-Session portion of the broadcast will begin at 11:40 am EDT, with the actual PBP of the matches taking place at 12:00 pm EDT. You can access the audio stream at:

Team Scoring:
The best place to track the team scoring is the Penn State Wrestling Club web site. The link for the team scoring is:

PBP:
I'll be available for PBP at the start of the session. Alas, I didn't check my schedule before agreeing to something in the late afternoon (dumb me). As such, I'm going to have to depart from the PBP around 2:45 pm EDT (give or take). @GregPickel will also be in the thread helping with PBP, and will take over when I have to depart. Hopefully, several of you will also step forward and provide some analysis, or some comments on each match. As always, I remind you to please include the score for the match, or provide some context (wrestler, school, and weight class) beyond just "that's not a takedown." It also helps to give folks a heads up as to what mat a PSU wrestler will be wrestling on. You can usually get that info from Ironhead's audio PBP, from Penn State Wrestling's twitter account, or from TrackWrestling.

Let's have some fun in Session I, and also over the coming days.

Track already has the first 3 matches up for each of the 8 mats. No PSUers listed.

When do the #1 seeds go? at the end of the weight class or end of session? Not sure how long they give #32 and 33 to recover.

Darn! I am getting it to work via Mac laptop, Google Chrome browser.

I'm with you until Chrome, as I'm using Safari.

I also tried to get it on my wife's Mac, using Chrome, but she has ad block enabled, which seems to be blocking it, and I can't figure out how to disable that (I never use Chrome).

I think I finally got Byers up and running. (Think, because I heard Jason Bryant making an announcement, and then had an ad, and now have no sound. Still trying.)

Edit: Now it's up and running. Never simple with LionVision.

No luck here on phone or with chrome on computer. Is there a radio station we can go directly to?

Sweet. ESPN+ MatCast has all 8 mats showing. I think I was limited to 4 mats with ESPN3. Shane Sparks seems to be the overall announcer on MatCast.

There are two audio feeds listed on the GoPSU audio site. The 11:48am link is working. The 11:25am is not.

Roman Bravo-Young has his first-round opponent. He'll face No. 33 Ethan Oakley of Appalachian State. He beat No. 32 McGuire Midkiff of North Dakota State 5-3 in a 133-pound pigtail bout.

Carter Starocci has his opponent in the opening round. No. 33 John Worthing of Clarion scored a 6-4 win over No. 32 Will Miller of Appalachian State. The 174-pound Nittany Lion already beat Worthing by technical fall this year.

Update: Pigtail wrestlers get a half hour of break time. Byers believes RBY will get to wrestle on-time as enough time will have elapsed by the time they get to 133.

Espn should just leave it on the 8 mats! Damn
