Who’s putting money down? Wyatt is most likely to win, but who is second most likely? Jax, Joey, or Zahid? Knee jerk reaction is Zahid, but he has to go against Dake (difficult match but my money is on Zahid for sure). McKenna has a pretty good shot. I think I will put some money on Jax (penance for not putting money on Wyatt). Jax may have the toughest match, but he is a killer, plus he will have been rolling with Daton and RBY. Can’t wait. Final X will be staggering.

Have we ever had an incoming freshman wrestling in the finals for the world team before?

This is the question, and I said we now have had a to be senior in high school wrestling in the finals for the World team Jax Forrest. I am not aware of a to be freshman wrestling in the finals for our senior team. I think Daton was wrestling on the 20 and under team but not the senior team before coming into Stillwater as a true freshman.

Bad deal that did not turn out well for Dieringer.
I had just moved to Austin when that match happened. It was quite awesome to see the crowd there for a best of three match. I do wish they would have set up some other matches, even if it was some high schoolers. I hope they do this in Round Rock HS gym again.

What really sucks is how nothing is set is stone. When and where does Jax wrestle to make the world team? No one knows.
Honestly, they’ll likely hold it as a part of some other preexisting but smaller event. I’m trying to convince myself that giving Jax more time to train with us (get his boy Fix healthier to actually roll with him) and take away some of the nerves of the bright lights in an arena, play into his favor.

Otherwise, I’m annoyed by it 😂

I am thinking Fujita or Utake might have done this on the senior level, but not any of our domestic guys.

Weight at 61 is fine.

But yes. Neck issues and also had surgery on his finger. He's wrestling hard right now, but wants more time.
I know 57 is super, super hard for him to make. So it’s easy enough to understand 61 is no cake walk.

Which is why I said what I said. His neck injury is what is concerning to me.

I don’t remember where I learned it, but his neck injury at one point was bad enough it could’ve forced early retirement. I’m not a guy capable of knowing if that’s a constant situation he faces or if that severity is completely improved?

If Vito has to withdraw for some reason, does Jax become the world team member or is there a challenge round?

No one knows. For a sport that prides itself on procedure and taking the mat when its time to go this is about as Mickey Mouse as it gets.
Eh, I am lukewarm on this topic.

Yes, as the challenger, it can be super frustrating and is a pretty big advantage to the spot holder. Should it be changed? Maybe?

But, it is another aspect that gives tons of motivation to perform. If you can earn this reward by world placement, which is the case, I think it is a big coupe.

And, as a country, we want to send our best chance to medal, so we don't want our possible best and returning medalist Wrestler having to set the weight while injured.

It’s got to be one of the worst rules. How can Jax be expected to be ready for a match that only Vito knows when it will happen?

Would World's delay the competition for Vito? The Olympics? The NCAAs? Olympic Trials? That's a big N-O.

This seems extremely arbitrary and subjective. You are ready on the day of competition or you are not. How close to ready do you have to be in order to overcome this "rule"? What if there was a death in the family? What if Jax has a severe toothache on the revised date? Can he ask for another delay? I guess the question is, where does this start and where does this end so that we can all following along?

Gotta be a medical reason and a USA wrestling DR must ok it.

Willie had a pretty good point.

*if we have to send our “#2” at pretty much every weight, we are still in good shape.

USA has built its into a pretty strong spot in regards to talent with depth. Honestly, USA should reward that depth with equal benefits.

The returning medalist already has the advantage of sitting in final X so once final X is set it should reset and they should be on the same playing field meaning both should be allowed to delay for medical reasons. I think we see that change made going forward

My issue is more 1.) Jax doesn't have the same rules. If Jax sprains his ankle and can't make the date he is done. Vito gets the spot. Is automatically qualifying for Final X no a big enough advantage? I feel like once we get to Final X the competitors should have the same rule set. 2.) If you grant a delay then it should immediately come with a new date and location. Jax not knowing when and where his world team qualification will take place is kind of crazy.

Nobody currently knows when or where so it's no advantage. Vito won't decide the date. UsaW will make that decision and give both parties ample notice.

I agree on the same set of rules once final x is determined as I posted above

But the date will be set when Vito is healthy enough so I bet he knows a general idea when that might be. I just have a bad taste in my mouth because Dake delayed his match with Ringer then went to Spain to wrestle in tournaments but he couldn't wrestle Ringer. Just a screwy system.

UsaW gives time for the other athlete Jax to get ready and have time as well. So the hurt athlete gets cleared and UsaW sets the date 4 weeks out or so .So in the Dake situation he was cleared and hit a tournament 1st. If UsaW would've called Ringer and said Dake is healthy you guys will wrestle next week people would've said Ringer needed time to get ready. Whatever way they do it people will have complaints.

I'm ok with this is the date we decide the teams and if you can't wrestle then so be it you FF

I disagree with your agreeableness.

Agreeableness, in the context of personality psychology, refers to a personality trait characterized by traits like kindness, compassion, empathy, and trust. It reflects an individual's tendency to prioritize interpersonal harmony and social connections.

This sounds just like you. Happy weekend guys!! ;)
