I'm posting this the day before the start of NCAAs, so that everyone has the info, knows what will be provided, etc.

Please use the thread for all pre-session, in-session, and post-session discussion for the Session I of the 2025 NCAA Championships.

When:
March 20, 12:00 pm EDT

Where:
Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, PA

TV:
ESPNU

Video Streaming:
ESPN+. Please note that this is the only way to get access to multiple mats (They call it MatCast). As a heads up, MatCast will be available for each session (not all that necessary for Session VI on Saturday evening, as there is only one mat being used in that session. However, the Trophy Presentation at the end of Session VI will be on ESPN+, and not ESPN. You can subscribe to ESPN+ for $11.99 a month, and cancel your subscription in a week, and only pay for 1 month

Audio Streaming:
The radio PBP, with Jeff Byers at the mic, will be streamed for free. The pre-Session portion of the broadcast will begin at 11:40 am EDT, with the actual PBP of the matches taking place at 12:00 pm EDT. You can access the audio stream at:

Once there, click on the arrow in the button to the left of "Wrestling: NCAA Championships (Philadelphia, PA) - Session 1

Team Scoring:
The best place to track the team scoring used to be the Penn State Wrestling Club web site. It's still the best, IMHO, but they have elected to make it only available to members once NCAAs start. The Penn State Wrestling Club does a lot of good things for PSU wrestling, so you might consider joining and thus also have access to the team scoring. After that, my favorite location to track team scoring is TrackWrestling.

PBP:
I'll be available for PBP for the entire session. @GregPickel will in the Wells Fargo Center, and providing his thoughts from there. Hopefully, several of you will also step forward and provide some analysis, or some comments on each match. As always, I remind you to please include the score for the match, or provide some context (wrestler, school, and weight class) beyond just "that's not a takedown." It also helps to give folks a heads up as to what mat a PSU wrestler will be wrestling on. You can usually get that info from Ironhead's audio PBP, from Penn State Wrestling's twitter account, or from TrackWrestling.

Let's have some fun in Session I, and also over the coming days.

Given that the Event is in your backyard, I hope you”ll be able to attend at least one day…perhaps Saturday evening.

If @GregPickel can leverage his BWI media clout he’ll probably be able get you a complimentary pass into the Presidential viewing box.🙂

Any insight into what time session 1 will end today? Wondering how much time between sessions. Thanks in advance.

Track has the first 3 matches listed for each of the 8 mats. No PSUers on deck or in the hole.

LOL, I went back and looked at last year's Session I thread, thinking the times would be listed on posts. Alas, it only shows the date when posts when made.

I checked on my TV, and ESPNU is listed for Wrestling until 3:30 pm EDT

I offer the 3:30 pm EDT with the caveat that sessions at wrestling tournaments are impossible to predict exactly when they end, as it's dependent upon how many falls there are, how many injuries there are, how many video reviews there are, etc. But 3:30 pm EDT should be about when Session I ends.

Thirty minutes until we get underway. Twenty minutes until they clear the mats.

I believe at NCAAs, they clear the mats via the public address system.

Many of the tournaments I work, they're late in getting started (last minute changes, which kids show up, etc.), and it's left to the refs to clear the mats. We're getting paid from the listed start time, whether they start wrestling then or not, but we're usually bored, and tired of waiting around, and are delighted to blow the whistles and clear the mats to get things started. ;)

Mat 1 has Caleb Weiand (MSU) vs. Marcello Milani (Cornell) in a 125 pigtail. I believe the winner of that match will take on Lilledahl in R1, so that's the most interesting pigtail match for me at the start.

Marcello Milani (Cornell) gets a TD in SV to win 4-1 over Caleb Weiand (MSU). So Milani will wrestle Lilledahl in R1. Tough one for Weiand, as he was so, so close to getting a TD at the end of regulation, but the buzzer sounded just before he got the TD.

Luke Lilledahl has his first round opponent. He'll face Marcello Milani in Round 1 after the Cornell wrestler beat Caleb Weiand of Michigan State 4-1 in sudden victory. That 125-pound match will come up a bit later in this session.
