I'm setting this up the night before so that everyone has the info, etc., and also so that I have one less thing to do tomorrow between sessions.

Please use the thread for all pre-session, in-session, and post-session discussion for the Session IV of the 2025 NCAA Championships.

When:
March 21, 8:00 pm EDT

Where:
Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, PA

TV:
ESPN2

Video Streaming:
ESPN+. Please note that this is the only way to get access to multiple mats (their MatCast). Additional info about that is provided in the original post in the Session I Thread.

Audio Streaming:
The radio PBP, with Jeff Byers at the mic, will be streamed for free. The pre-Session portion of the broadcast will start at 7:40 pm EDT, with the actual wrestling taking place at 8:00 pm EDT. To access the audio PBP, go to:

Once there, click on the arrow inside the button, to the left of "Wrestling: NCAA Championships (Philadelphia, PA) - Session 4"

Team Scores:

The best places for tracking the team scoring race is the Penn State Wrestling Club web site (for members), or TrackWrestling

PBP:

I'll be available for PBP for the entire session. @GregPickel will be inside the Wells Fargo Center, providing observations, etc. from that vantage point. Hopefully, several of you will also step forward and provide some analysis, or some comments on each match. As always, I remind you to please include the score for the match, or provide some context (wrestler, school, and weight class) beyond just "that's not a takedown." It also helps to give folks a heads up as to what mat a PSU wrestler will be wrestling on. You can usually get that info from Ironhead's audio PBP, from Penn State Wrestling's twitter account, or from TrackWrestling.

A little perspective - in a disappointing QF, PSU has as many semi-finalists as Iowa and OK ST combined.

Would like to see our wrestlers in the consolation round with bonus points like Nebraska wrestlers have been doing.

And still more semi finalists than last year when it broke the all-time scoring record…

good lord this fanbase is spoiled
I was thinking that about myself today. It’s not enough to win anymore. We need to set records. I am spoiled

there is that. But we also really care about each wrestler, as people and PSU students. When they lose it can be a bit like watching your friend or brother lose something they really care about. It is personal. And yes it is just a sport. But what each wrestler goes through to get here. Just Wow. My hat goes off to all the College wrestlers who go for it.

My computer locked up. It may take me some time to resolve this. So I probably will miss PBP for Luke, at a minimum

125 Consolation R4: #1 seed Luke Lilledahl vs. #11 seed Nicolar Rivera (Wisconsin)

I'll use NR for Rivera

Per 1
Due to computer issues, I have to pick this up a little late. Luke up 3-1 after a TD and then an illegal hold. NR gets a late esc, 3-2.

Per 2
NR takes bottom. He works to a 3-points stance. RT goes over 1 minute as they go OOB with 1:29. Luke flattens him. He gets a tilt but only 1 swipe, so no NF. Stall warning on NR. A rideout. End. RT @ 2:29 for Luke

Per 3
Luke takes neutral. NR reaches, and Luke with a nice counter and gets behind for the TD, 6-2. NR works up and returned, and then flattened. OOB with 37 sec left. RT is locked for Luke. NR is out, 6-3. NR shoots, blocked. End. With 3:20 in RT, it's a 7-3 DEC for Luke, and he's an All-American!!!

He'll wrestle in the Consolation Quarters later tonight
