Finally. I know many of the FH alums were getting frustrated with no apparent movement in the coaching search.

I'll be interesting to see what she does in recruiting.

St. Joe's had tremendous success under her. Reaching the NCAA finals is not something that is the norm for St. Joe's -- a nice university, and one that puts some effort into sports, but traditionally their focus was Catholic kids from the Philadelphia region (including south NJ and northern DE).

PA is the most fertile recruiting territory for college field hockey. Most top programs from D1 through D3, recruit heavily in PA.

I don't know too much about how St. Joe's FH roster was constructed before Price arrived. Since her arrival, the team has been a nice mix of Philadelphia area players, as well as international students. (FH is huge in the Netherlands, and also big in England).

Last season, the St. Joe's roster included:

- 4 players from the Netherlands
- 10 players from PA
- 1 player from Canada
- 1 player from France
- 3 players from the UK
- 1 player from Australia
- 1 player from KY
- 2 players from NJ
- 2 players from VA
- 1 player from DE
- 1 player from New Zealand

PSU's roster, traditionally is heavy on PA players, with a sprinkling of players from NJ, MD, and the East Coast. Over the past decade, they usually had 1 or 2 international players, but not a lot.

Price has had a lot of success wherever she's been. It will be interesting to see how she handles recruiting at PSU, which has great resources, and a really active alumni group of players. Will the PSU roster start having more international players? Will she improve on landing the top PA players (many of the really elite ones have tended of late to UNC, MD, NW, etc.)? PSU's recruiting was probably impacted when Coach Love was let go in December. Only time will tell how long it takes Coach Price to recover from that, and which directions she goes in to bring PSU back to the elite levels of FH.

The team Hannah took to the finals was a team that was laden with junior and Senior players who had been recruited and coached up by Lynn Farquhar. Kinda like Barry Switzer coaching Dallas to a SB win in 1996, after Jimmy Johnson built the team… any warm body could have had the same result.
If you really want to know what Hannah Prince is all about, compare her rate of players leaving the program against other D1 programs.

The St Joes team that went to the championship game in 2024 had 2 seniors and 9 international 5th years that were brought in for their Covid bonus year to make the run. It was a brilliant strategy, and it worked perfectly. Sounds like she was able to sell that to Kraft who I'm sure knows nothing about field hockey. Will she recruit PA? Top players in PA don't even consider Penn St and that has been the case for the last 8 years or so. That included my daughter, a top D1 player. She had no interest in Penn St (and they had no interest in her) despite all our family graduating from Penn St. My guess is Prince will emphasize international recruiting. Unfortunately, this is really hurting USA field hockey.

Many things are hurting USA field hockey, not least of which is international recruiting.
