Question is how many players will transfer. Jackson Arnold is a likely candidate and so are several others. After this season and all the likely coaching changes replacing those that leave will be a huge challenge. This season was a disaster.

Keep in mind, if OU had just an average offense this year they would have gone 9-3. Not elite offense, just middle of the pack, top 50 offense. It's not that hard to get to that level and then go from there.

The defense will continue to get better and be among the nation's best.

Hard to argue that but until the coaching staff can prove they can carry momentum over from one game to the next I just don’t see 9 wins. All those teams will also improve next year. SC may be a very dangerous team next season.

Home run OC hire and portal success we can go 8-4 for sure top 25 team for us to be playoff team next year, OL needs complete overhaul and need to add some NFL portal talent just don’t see it happening

Absolutely, and i actually had Oklahoma going 9-3. The amount of injuries in key positions altered the team chemistry big time but for Oklahoma to still make a bowl, speak volumes and just show how tough the team really is.

OU isn’t done in the portal though. So the answer to that is still TBD. We might even have to wait until after the spring portal window to really have an idea.

Of the 9 we added, what are your thoughts? I would have liked for OU to have gone after guys that have played SEC football. Unless Georgia, Texas, and Bama have guys entering in the next few days, that ship has sailed. I'm ok with the OL additions you can't coach size, but nothing has been done to address the defense, especially at the linebacker position.

Hard to say because it seems like we didn't even bother going after the "potential" guys. BV and Arbuckle appear to be after a few plug and play guys with some depth additions. I'm fine with that. We have potential already at WR.

The defense is going to be better. I truly believe that. The DL is nasty and that's always where it matters most. McKenzie and Lewis are legit. Omisigho is better than McCullough. Just don't think Dasan was the athlete we need at cheetah. If Dolby recovers he could easily slide back into the secondary and give Eli a running mate at CB or play FS and see Peyton at CB. RSJ is coming back and there are 3 young safeties that can play behind them. And maybe just maybe Gentry recovers.

The real test will be if Arbuckle and Mateer can carry their own weight. They dont have to be great, just better than okay. Get Fasusi in that line with EPL, Howland or a plug and play portal guy, Ozeata, and Everett and the line takes a big jump.

It is possible to turn this thing around in a hurry but it's gotta be 8+ wins and field a team that is competitive in all phases. I'm not saying that it will happen i just don't think the vision is all that complicated. Brent needs to let Arbuckle loose and trust his own guys on defense and don't coach a game to temper the margin of defeat.

I doubt BV is let go after next season if its another bust yr. I think he has 2 yrs left no matter how bad it is next season. The buyout will still be too much and I don't think OU has the financial will to pay it. That extension was a huge mistake that will bite them in the rear, already has.
