If true, Iowa be like….So got from information from a large PSU wrestler booster…Masanosuke Ono has 2 years of eligibility available to wrestle college, and appears he will do that at Happy Valley

If true, which is a big if, that would solid PSU's light weights for the first time in a while. With some big questions to answer as well. 125-141 would be Lilledahl, Blaze, Ono, and Davis. Who is the odd man out there? All 4 would have RS years available. So got from information from a large PSU wrestler booster…Masanosuke Ono has 2 years of eligibility available to wrestle college, and appears he will do that at Happy Valley
Ono is so perfectly a 133 so I'm guessing he will wrestle that. Lilledahl would have to manage 125 for 2 more years. He can redshirt a year to take a break and just focus on free also if he can't make the weight for a season (it's easier in free with less events)If true, which is a big if, that would solid PSU's light weights for the first time in a while. Since he has been wrestling at 61kg (134.4 lb) you could see him wrestle 133....however, there’s further intrigue with UWW’s recent announcement that Ono plans to drop to 57 kg this year and will likely stay at this weight through the 2028 Olympics. This would put him at 125!!!! And let everyone else move up to more natural weights!Ono is so perfectly a 133 so I'm guessing he will wrestle that. My guess is for next year, Nagao goes 141 while Davis RS. Blaze said in his interview he's under 140 right now so he won't be anywhere near big enough to go 141 no matter how good he is.
The key is, Cael leaves it up to the guys ultimately.
Eyeball test tells me Lilledahl not cutting a lot of weight.Since he has been wrestling at 61kg (134.4 lb) you could see him wrestle 133....however, there’s further intrigue with UWW’s recent announcement that Ono plans to drop to 57 kg this year and will likely stay at this weight through the 2028 Olympics. The really hope this happens
Desmond coming in as well.If true, which is a big if, that would solid PSU's light weights for the first time in a while. With some big questions to answer as well. 125-141 would be Lilledahl, Blaze, Ono, and Davis. Who is the odd man out there? All 4 would have RS years available.
So Ono, LL, Nagoa, SVN, Kasak, MM, Haines, Duke, Barr, and a Mirasola next year?Ono is so perfectly a 133 so I'm guessing he will wrestle that. Lilledahl would have to manage 125 for 2 more years. You think Duke is going 184 as a true freshman? He just won a NY title at 170. Seems like a big jump for a true freshman. I’m thinking Ryder at 184.So Ono, LL, Nagoa, SVN, Kasak, MM, Haines, Duke, Barr, and a Mirasola next year?
Sweet. Hope they break the Ono news at nationals.
Put him on my eating habits and he’ll have that freshman 15 in no time at all!You think Duke is going 184 as a true freshman? He just won a NY title at 170. Seems like a big jump for a true freshman. I’m thinking Ryder at 184.
Zain wrestled 138 his HS SR year but weighed in around 133 at states. Which made him about 5 lb lighter than Blaze is today. My guess is for next year, Nagao goes 141 while Davis RS. No it doesn't. UWW weight cutting is about crashing down to the lowest conceivable weight at the very end. When Logan Stieber somehow made 61 kg, he disappeared when he turned sideways. (Seriously, those pics were awful. He was Third World Famine levels of emaciated.)Since he has been wrestling at 61kg (134.4 lb) you could see him wrestle 133....however, there’s further intrigue with UWW’s recent announcement that Ono plans to drop to 57 kg this year and will likely stay at this weight through the 2028 Olympics. Duke wrestled 70 kg / 154 lb at the Nov 2024 Bill Farrell Open. He's not a 174 unless he hits some growth spurt. You think Duke is going 184 as a true freshman? He just won a NY title at 170. Seems like a big jump for a true freshman. I’m thinking Ryder at 184.
Ono would have a Ton of work to put in when it comes to wrestling on the mat….He’s never done it before. He could learn tho.So got from information from a large PSU wrestler booster…Masanosuke Ono has 2 years of eligibility available to wrestle college, and appears he will do that at Happy Valley
Not to mention the work needed to take college classes in another language. It wasn't easy for Abe, and he had five years. For what it is worth, a Masanosuke Ono is listed in the directory as an UGrad.Ono would have a Ton of work to put in when it comes to wrestling on the mat….He’s never done it before. I think everyone knew that was coming. He probably stayed to finish degree. Good luck to him.
He’ll land somewhere and do well. Perhaps home state Michigan. Best of luck.
Then again, he could just opt for neutral and take his opponents down with more frequency than Mitchell Mesenbrink to minimize his need for extensive mat training.Ono would have a Ton of work to put in when it comes to wrestling on the mat….He’s never done it before. He could learn tho.
Man, it really hits you at times like this just how competitive the PSU wrestling program is when a former Four Time State Wrestling Champion, can't find a place in the lineup. He’ll land somewhere and do well. Perhaps home state Michigan. Best of luck.
Iowa State seems the most likely destination. They were a finalist during his recruiting, and they have big needs at both 165 and 174. Metcalf is from the same town (Davison MI), and Carr would be a great training partner. He’ll land somewhere and do well. Perhaps home state Michigan. Best of luck.
The other finalist was Cornell. Scratch them -- Facundo is out of Ivy eligibility after this year.
