It's a couple posters on an Iowa site who are spit-balling and having speculative/wishful thinking discussions. It is in no way indicative of the Iowa fan base, nor does it affect you in any way. Don't be so sensitive or stay on your own fan site, if you have one.
Oh I'm not sensitive...just giving an observation on everything I keep reading. I actually read HR and PSU's forums all the time because there's a lot of great info that passes through here (that's a compliment!). Created the account Sept 9th because of the ON3 change requiring me to make an account instead of just lurking!

Either way, I love having parity in this sport. Given how much seemed to be consolidating and contracting, seeing high level recruits spread out is good for wrestling.

Wishful thinking leads you to want them to another somewhere else besides Iowa? Man those sour grapes must be killing you! Given all the movement throughout the NCAA, sure they may end up elsewhere. But y'all are acting like Blacksburg is a **** hole where no one can develop and win. Bo is joining one of the best near his weight with Caleb Henson (5th, 1st, 2nd) and has coach Frayer, who was an olympian at Bo's weight. Miller will be stepping into a room with all that there, Andonian as a guy that will give him senior level support in an active style that matches his own, and a great group of young high talent near his weight. Not saying there aren't other great spots (why **** on others), but if that's y'all's approach to competition, recruits can smell the desperation on you too.
In case you been on the outside unaware of Bassett family and recruiting, I will be upfront with you. Bassetts are for Bassetts and have no more allegiance to the Hokies as they had with the Hawkeyes regardless of VT wrestlers, coaches or facilities. If the next 5 years or so is beneficial and lucrative to the family, they will stay out for ya, if not they will be gone. I have no big hate with Hokies and hope you and the Bassetts do well, better keep mom and dad at arms length unless your coaches have already given them free reign and control over the program as part of the package deal.

Interesting a new guy named VT spy 🤣 who joined Sept 9 but just posted and has a lot say.
I don’t suppose a VT fan, and probably the first one ever on our board, came here to troll us on the Bassett gang flipping from us to VT🧐. With what they did to us over us not going against our compliance department gives us the right to have a few sour grapes. They screwed themselves out of quit a bit of money, especially when the other 2 big money programs said they weren’t interested after seeing what happened to us. What may ultimately drive them out of VT is the visibility and attention they won’t get at VT. Bo knew there is no program with a bigger, more involved fan base than Iowa, where you not only wrestle in front of the biggest home crowds, but get bigger crowds at road meets than any other team. He had already sold a bunch of merchandise to our fans shortly after committing. You guys probably draw bigger home crowds than anyone else in your conference, and you average about 2,500. That may go up a little with Bassett’s arrival, but you need wrestling fans to increase attendance. His name means nothing to someone who doesn’t follow wrestling closely. Anyway, good luck, you may beat the odds and have them there for 10 years like Bo said, but remember, he said the same to us, and 10 years turned into 4 months.

I never called your fine city a sh*thole. My point is that your attendance for wrestling pales in comparison to the likes of Iowa, Penn St, others. From what I read VT gets a few thousand for a home conference meet. We sell out at 14k plus. You have to get these guys to Blacksburg first - they've already illustrated they can be swayed at the drop of a hat. Don't be so sensitive - wrong board for that.

Should be a sporty dual this year.

They are going to have a VERY tough dual team. It's a shame they didn't get into National Duals. With that said, it is also a team that could have a LOT of R12 finishers and not finish that much higher than they did at NCAA's last season. A lot of that will hinge on Bastida finally staying healthy AND wrestling to his potential at NCAA's. His last 3 years are R16, R12 and DNP(early season injury).

Elam is probably the most surefire guy they have on their team, as long as he doesn't do the 6th year senior "slide" that happens to a lot of guys...

There’s nothing shameful about it.

Agreed they have a nice dual team. I see them a decent amount behind Iowa come NCAAs.

Agreed they have a nice dual team on paper.
On paper they should win 6 matches, so we need a few upsets, or more bonus in our wins. We always find a way, even in Ames. Reminds me of 2 years ago when they were convinced they would beat us at their place.

125 and 157 are matches I could see Iowa winning that they're not favored in. And if Bailey can get his wrist tilt 4 NF might be enough to steal that one. Not saying those happen just saying it's definitely possible. And I will never count Kueter out

They almost never put the team on the mat they think they are going to, as they are constantly dealing with injuries and weight issues. I will bet a shiny quarter that at least one of Evan Frost, Elam, or Bastida doesn't take the mat. At least at their listed weights, anyway.

ISU officials just need to make sure the riding time clock is somewhere that the wannabee's coaching staff can see it.😅😅😅😅

Wish I could say the same. The rest of us are jealous of your ignorance in this area.

Really though...not sure how you don't remember Grip. I think you're having one of those "senior moments" I hear about. He's not as active on this board as he was the last.

Elam’s health issues were real. He may or may not be the same guy.
