Yes texas will probably have a better record that OU in year one, only because OU has the tougher schedule. Flip the schedules and OU would be in contentions for a SEC Championship.

The Texas hype will fizzle. Murphy and Sweat hid a lot of defensive problems for Texas and they're gone, along with the DL coach.

The Horns dodged a lot of Ls the back half of the season and probably didn't belong in the playoffs if you really dived deep. Ewers is a good college QB but he's not an elite game changer that can take over a game. I think the loss of AD Mitchell will hurt their offense the most as he was the guy that always found a way open.

I'm not saying Oklahoma is going to fair much better but this idea that it's UGA, Texas, then everybody else is silly.

No doubt about the schedule draw. Its like the SEC was trying to set Texas up for success. I think 8-9 wins for OU year one will be a good season but I highly doubt Texas does any better themselves.

Texas loses key defensive linemen and an elite receiver.
UT loses their entire WR corps. Wasn't just Worthy, who was dinged up quite a bit. But those WRs made Ewers and inspite of them had some very pedestrian games.

Top 5 WRs from 2023 - all gone:
