The US is going to get destroyed in this dual I fear. Super excited to see how Lilledahl does. The kid he is wrestling just won Russian nationals and should be their world team rep. Will be a great challenge for Luke

Yeah, I was just thinking that this will expose that while the USA has been adding more depth than it traditionally has enjoyed, there are levels to that as well.

It is funny to me that our (arguably) deepest weight domestically (65) has by far the weakest rep in this dual lineup.
Composto DNP at U23 Nationals recently. He is arguably not even in the top 20 domestically at the weight.

Damn, too close for comfort. That guy is decent (2X 5th at Euros, 5th U23), but not at Luke’s level. Almost got Seymour’d

Clearly the results here affect wrestlers’ seedings at future tournaments like the World Championships.

Are there other considerations? For example, by placing, do athletes help “qualify the weight” for worlds, like they do for the Olympics?

I’m sorry if this has been answered before.

They are just for seeding, but for those not on the world team, it's more about the experience they gain.

I heard the announcers mention that there’s also a cash prize for these—perhaps as a new addition this year?
