Taylor Fritz frustrated as Wimbledon comeback is interrupted by curfew
The American No. 1 rallied from two sets down, but match was delayed despite having 42 minutes left before curfew.www.nytimes.com
Kudermetova is Russian...tennis also gives that treatment to the players from Belarus.Rainy, wet day in Nantucket (after two absolutely gorgeous days) so good opportunity to watch a bit. Coverage is all over the place and hoping to see the rest of the Fritz match. But, they’re showing some of the Swiatek match and her opponent is Russian I guess. No flag, no country abbreviation. Think they should grow some balls and flat out ban Russian players or leave the flag/abbreviation; it’s limp as is.
Shocking for Coco and Pegula to both go down in the 1st round.#2 Coco Gauff is down a set and down two breaks in the second set, looks like she’s toast.

No. 12 Tiafoe latest American to fall at Wimbledon
American Frances Tiafoe, the No. 12 seed, was upset by Britain's Cameron Norrie 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5 in the second round of Wimbledon on Wednesday.www.espn.com
Mixed Doubles doesn't start until Friday/Saturday.Sucks for Tiafoe but love an underdog Brit story at Wimbledon. Any updates on mixed doubles? Alcaraz playing with Raducanu (lucky duck).
Speaking of mixed doubles (which usually flys completely under the radar)...there is some news/controversy around the US Open's Mixed Doubles tourney this summer. It's occurring the week before the tournament, and is full of high profile singles players. But, it means that those top ranked doubles/mixed doubles players that specialize in this format are being cut out and denied the chance at a grand slam title this year.
Without a doubt it's a bigger draw...but I sorta hate the fact that they are squeezing out those doubles teams/players from a major, and quite frankly will allow a team to win it that isn't as good as the doubles specialists. I think it would have been a good exhibition to have in advance of the tournament to build up interest, but don't think changing the rules and giving the spots to the best singles players is really fitting for a Grand Slam doubles event. Not a big fan of super skilled doubles teams; more entertaining to watch singles players sort of feel their way through a match. Will be a bigger draw too.
How does it work? Are these tickets good for a single match? Or are they good for all day?My wife and I will be attending Wimbledon tomorrow and have tickets for Court 1.
Good for the day. You’d have a reserved seat at that court, then can roam around the outer courts. How does it work? Are these tickets good for a single match? Or are they good for all day?

They are good for all day on Court 1 which will be 3 matches. You can go to the outer courts as well if you want which serves like a grounds pass. How does it work? Are these tickets good for a single match? Or are they good for all day?
Lucky dog! Have you been to the US Open? I'd like to hear back how they compare. To me the US Open grounds pass is the most bang for the buck in terms of seeing some incredibly skilled world class athletes. My wife and I will be attending Wimbledon tomorrow and have tickets for Court 1.

Note that the French and Australian Opens also do have night sessions now on their showcase courts. But sounds like Wimbledon will never go that route (or at least not anytime soon) with their curfew.Think it is like this at all Slams save the US Open, which has a day ticket and a night ticket.
Agree completely. We've stopped getting tickets in Ashe since I'd spend the whole day on outer courts anyways. The last few years, we've actually been getting reserved seats in a section of Armstrong that's shaded for most of the day, and use that as the spot to go cool off when the sun gets too warm.Lucky dog! Yeah good call on finding shaded spots in Armstrong. I've gotten great seats there only to find I'm sitting in direct sun all day, and eventually have to move. Seems like side with umpire seat gets afternoon shade. Love that court and court 17.Agree completely. We've stopped getting tickets in Ashe since I'd spend the whole day on outer courts anyways.
