One of the great moments in Duke history. I know some posters here aren't old enough to remember or weren't even born yet. Just can't believe it's been that long.

Where were you watching that game? I was in the eighth grade and watched at home with a couple friends. My cousin was a junior at Duke and in Indianapolis for the Final Four. Those who remember know we were given zero chance, and I mean zero chance, to win that game.

I was three years old! I love watching that game every time it airs on tv. I could watch that game over and over. My favorite part of that game was watching Tarkanian chewing the heck out of that towel.

I remember it well, DJ. with the beating we received a year earlier by the Runnin' Rebels I was primed for the rematch with UNLV. I told everyone I knew that I thought we had a good chance at winning the game...and most of them laughed...haha...but I got the last one. I felt if Duke was close at the end that the Devil's experience in tight games would serve them well, and it did.

What a great win, but even more importantly it got us to the championship game and we grabbed our first National Championship...even sweeter it was against Ol'Roy...who knocked out Dean's Tar Heel team to make it there. Dang, can't get much better than that...except for the fact our Devils won it the next year for back to back titles!

I was bagging groceries at a local grocery. Was taping the game and was daring anybody to tell me about. We found out that the game was close with about 5 minutes to go so the manager made the decision to play it over the loud speakers in the store. Turned out to be a pretty awesome moment and I still went home and watched the game about a thousand times.

I was in 4th grade when it happened. I felt like I was the only person in the world who was a Duke fan. All the kids at my school had UNLV face paint on, and I stood by my belief in Duke despite the previous year results. When they won it became my second most memorable sports moment. Even though I couldn't watch the game because of complications with the weather or something.

I was senior in high school & had already decided to attend Duke. Wasn't expecting a win and headed to my good friends house b/c his parents were out of town. As the game got tighter the adult beverages began flowing furiously! People kept showing up & were glued to the TV. The place roared when Brian Davis converted the And-1. I was pacing like Rain Man as Laettner stepped to the line and pure bedlam broke out after Hunt's three banked away. Called my Dad and he was screaming and then slipped in "you still have curfew".

A night I'll never forget!

i remember that and then then the title game against KU. I just remember Skysdad sweating bullets the whole time, not fully understanding what was going on, but knowing it was something big and important. Both my kids got to watch last years title so that was special for them, even though they had no idea what was going on either. Haha, they just knew Dad was pretty happy

Was only 7 at the time and unfortunately don't remember this game. But I certainly remember where I was the following year when we played Kentucky!

I was exactly 5 days old, lol. So... my memories aren't exactly great towards it. But thank the Lord for it.

My wife and I were diving in Turks and Caicos, staying in some little dump on Grand Turk. Black and white TV with the equivalent of a coat hanger for an antenna. Several well-placed kicks got me a picture, of sorts, and fuzzy sound. Great night.

Thanks for posting that Dukedevilz I literally just wasted a whole hour watching that! Awesome!

Gerry T looks like a very sick guy who's going to vomit eventually, geez.

And my gosh could our boys play some defense back in the day!

Aside from the natl championships, probably the biggest win in Duke basketball history. That Duke team will forever be my favorite. My oldest son was two at the time. He's 26 now and I tell him all the time how great that squad was. Hurley was a beast my favorite Dukie of all time.

Awesome. Watershed moment in Duke basketball history. If I remember correctly, K has called Hurley's three the biggest shot in Duke history.

No problem. And hey, I wouldn't consider that hour a waste of time by any means :) You're relishing great moments from the best program in college basketball history.

I was 7 months old and don't remember it but I'm sure I was smiling without knowing why :D

On a side note here a few year ago a regular season "Duke at Michigan" game was on tv and I didn't know who won and didn't want to look it up but caught myself yelling at the tv a few times over bad calls lol.

I was 17 back then. Outside of the 5 Championships and the shot this Duke game is next in line behind those. I will take them all to the grave but this one is extra special.

Was on Spring Break, staying at my brother's time share in Galveston. Hated UNLV and even though I was the only person I knew who thought Duke would win (had em in my pool and won it!), I had so much angst thinking of another loss to them in the finals that I really didn't enjoy the game. When Duke won at the end, it was all of a sudden over and I was kinda like: What the F, I should have enjoyed that a lot more. What a moment, just wished I was able to enjoy the game more while it was going on.

I was lucky enough to attend almost every home game that year.

Re-watched last night. Interesting in that Duke didn't win by playing a "perfect' game. Duke actually made some really weak unforced turnovers. That said, Duke basically stood toe to toe with UNLV from start to finish.

One thing I noticed. How many cheap shots-elbows, shoves UNLV dished out. Like they were deliberately trying to punk Duke.

I was living in the Czech Republic and had to drive 7 hours to watch the game in the middle of the night. So great to see. Such a stunning and crazy win.

I held out little hope. What a great win. Given what we did the next year with that talent and how good we were really, in 90 and 91, it was not as big an upset as it looked at the time. Not a 'Nova-G'Town type upset. As it turned out, Hurley, Laettner and Hill were all really, really great players.
