I received a PM from a poster with a suggestion for a thread. They indicated they didn't want to start it, and since the idea seemed intriguing, I'm starting the thread for them.

You have a day and some hours to predict

- which wrestler(s) at NCAAs will finish the highest against their seed
- which wrestler(s) at NCAAs will finish the lowest against their seed
- which team will finish the highest against their predicted finish (use whichever projection you want that is publicly available)
- which team will finish the lowest against their prediction finish (use whichever projection you want that is publicly available)

Hopefully, this will generate some interest, and then after NCAAs we can look back to see which posters were good with their projections, and which posters missed the mark by a great deal.

The poster that contacted me also indicated that it might also just be interesting to project wrestlers (PSU and non-PSU) that will finish above or below seed.

Have at it

Individual (highest vs seed)- I feel like I should identify 1-2 at each weight who might outperform their seeds
125- Robinson NCST (12 seed)
133- Knox STAN (15 seed)
141- Davis PSU (14 seed)
149- I have 2...
Valencia STAN (10 seed) coming back through the WB's
McNeil MICH (11 seed) on front side, then in WB's
157- Again, I have 2
Zerban ISU (12 seed) is dangerous...IF he's healthy
Watters WVU (11 seed) can wrestle with anyone in the bracket
165- Most dangerous mid-level seeds to me are
Sparks MIN (13 seed)
Downey UNI (11 seed)
174- Wask NAVY (15 seed) could make waves coming back through
184- There are 3 that stand out to me:
Ferrari IOWA (7 seed) this seeding is ludicrous
Fishback OSU (12 seed) he or Soldano could shock and make it to the Semis
Soldano OKL (20 seed) he or Fishback could shock and make it to the Semis
197- Berge SDSU is most likely mid-seed
285- 2 stick out to me...BOTH would need to make backside waves, but it's possible
Carroll WYO (18 seed)
Luffman ILL (26 seed)

Individual (lowest vs seed)- Markel Baker Northern Illinois 133- 8 seed
alternate- Cross Wasilewski Penn - 3 seed
alternate- Dominic Serrano Northern Colorado- 9 seed

Team (lowest vs seed)- PENN: To me, PENN is overseeded throughout. I think the seeding criteria favors the smaller conferences and seeds them too high

Team (highest vs seed)- So, WHO is going to outperform over the next 3 days...
2 candidates stcik out to me as having the POTENTIAL to overperform:
STANFORD
ARIZONA ST

Looking forward to another AMAZING 3 days of wrestling!

Arnold better than 27th - weak field at 197

Bousakis worse than 3rd - If he loses to Volk in the quarters, the consis will be a struggle.

VaTech - better than 8th on Intermat

Ohio State - worse than 2nd on Intermat.

Gabe Arnold better than 27th
Eddie Ventresca worst than 2nd
Cornell. Better 8th
Iowa worst 6th
Thinking a couple Iowa veterans lose early, the drive for podium might not be that great.
I looked at a couple of potential movers.
Mid weights.
Brandon Cannon 157, 8th seed; 2 more weeks of conditioning and recovery could make a 3rd place run.
Angelo Farrari 184, 7th seed; same as my Cannon thoughts.
Beau Matannona 174 ,9th seed. He and his brother are good and can really scramble , they just can't win a close match.

If they finish 5th the pitchforks and torches will be out, 6th - nuclear winter, below 6th will be the end of times on the Iowa forums.

Meh, Iowa can now hang their hat on women's wrestling and focus on that pesky McKendree .
