-Bring in the legends and go head to head on both sides of the court.

-Current players alternate shots at each rack with a UK legend from their area.

-Western KY team for instance could have- Travis Ford, Patrick Sparks, Rex Chapman team up with Travis Perry. Have one at each rack and Travis would travel to each rack shooting with a different legend taking turns at the rack.

-Lexington team potential line up- Cameron Mills, Goose, and Jasper

-Eastern Ky team - Trent, Richie, .....

- West Coast team - Otega, Prince ...

-Louisville team - DA, Padgett

-NY Team - Mash, Brea

Introduce the legends on the glass floor with highlights from their career.

Who would you like to see represent an area team that realistically can still knock down a 3?

Those old players would be so out of shape they would be lucky to hit the rim. Terrible and stupid idea.

Cameron Mills may be about of shape but I would bet he could still hit 4 out of 5 from 1 spot alternating shots with jasper.

Hell I bet you could hit at least 1 but yeah thanks for your input.

To make it more interesting they should involve UK students in all the contest stuff. Not to do the 3pt contest but to be part with that player. So Perry next year draws a seat, row and section number out of 2 different hats. He does the contest with that person on the floor by the team bench. If he wins then a prize, maybe one of the big home games, 2 court side seats, dinner at Ruby's, stay at one of the hotels and such. Or $2k or 5k something like that.

Same for the dunk contest, same for the women then maybe Pope and Coach Brooks (women) both do the same or similar for 2 lucky fans. Keep things moving faster.

Then have a 10 minute scrimmage (very light scrimmage) coed (mens and womens teams) blue white type game. Nothing serious. Just a fun scrimmage showing unity in front of fans. Almost like a celeb game. Maybe even sprinkle in a few recent players that have moved on to other things.

All of this would market UK in a bigger way helping the get back in touch with the fans vibe.

Most of our legend players cant walk 15 feet without catching their breath, much less jack up a bunch of bricks..

Might need some adjustments here and there but you have some interesting ideas. Your post got called stupid because our culture is generating weak people who need to work out their emotional frustrations by berating others, not because of any particular weaknesses in what you wrote.

It isn't an awful idea but some of this dudes would break an ankle shooting these days. Mills and Ford are definitely not in playing shape. Rex probably isnt either.

These "legends" would never agree to do it. They'd be lucky to hit two or three out of 10. They don't want people to see that.

The better idea would be to get the NBA guys (Hero, IQ, Maxey, Fox, Booker) to do it. But, they have playing commitments.

I just want to watch a scrimmage. This year’s BBM was fun and better than they’ve been but damn I’m ready to watch these guys play some actual ball.

No legends. UK isn't a nostalgia factory. Nostalgia is one step above being inert.

This idea probably only works with guys who are young enough to be on the throwback team.

Lamb, Knight, the Harrisons, Ulis, etc. I don't hate it, but the logistics could get screwy.

You seriously think guys like Mills and Ford are in such terrible shape they couldn't shoot 5 racks of balls from the 3 pt line? I'm basically the same age, and I could do it with no problem. I don't think the OP was saying have the 90+ year old guys out there doing it, but certainly players from the 90s and forward would be reasonable.

Maybe they wouldn't agree to do it, but if there was actual planning of it, they could practice a little leading up to it, and I guarantee they could shoot fine.

That should have said "Isn't an awful idea."

Depends on what shape their knees are in. That's always a crap shoot for middle age guys. You can either have great knees or the knees of a 60 year old. I could probably do it too, but would pass. I got crap knees from my Dad and my left one is tricky.

That makes sense... but I would think it shouldn't be too hard to find 3-4 guys over the last 30 years who would be willing...if it were at the same time on the opposite goal, it wouldn't even take extra time

That was my point w/ the TBT squad having some involvement. They're clearly in shape and basketball-ready.

Agree but the original thought was the players would stay at one rack and take turns at that rack with a current player. The current player would move to a new rack with a new legend on their team waiting to fire off 5-10 shots max. Not that hard.

Wouldn’t be that much pressure on them because the current player will be doing most of the shooting going from rack to rack.

Oweh hits one rack with Andrew and then goes to the next rack with Aaron waiting to alternate shots to represent the southwest.

On the other court at the same time you have Darius miller, jasper and etc.

Video intro before the round would have the Harrison shots on the glass floor and jumbo tron.
