Wow, he keeps growing, was 6' 11" at last check. Nice that we managed to get in on this kid after his two Illini visits led everyone to believe that he was a lock for Illinois. If we don't get him, at least it will be excellent news if the Illini don't, since they are still a bit height challenged...
We need a center

Kofi is 7-0. Giorgi is 6-10. Kouma is 6-10, BBV is 6-8. Jones is 6-7. Kipper is 6-6. Ayo is a 6-5 guard. Griffin is a 6-5 guard.

Pretty good size. Likely will go 7-0, 6-10, 6-5(or 6-7), 6-5, 6-1 in starting lineup.

Kouma isn't even in school yet and should be redshirted. BBV is hurt, and he is an unknownquantity at any rate. And if we're counting 6'7" guys and smaller, then you didn't have a height problem last year.

You lost your depth at the 4 and 5 when certain players decided not to stick around. If anything happens to Giorgi (who has already battled injuries) or Kofi. Kouma amd BBV are not coming to the rescue...

Yeah, but like the fact that he was an Illinois lock, and is now visiting us and others. If he doesn't commit to the Illini, that's a win as well, imo.

Or, he said Stanford was his dream school after he visited there so I would’ve assumed they’re the leader? (Despite what you’ve heard from the idiots on Loyalty, I’ve not heard anywhere credible that Illinois is leading for him at all. In fact I believe Mizzou is the team to beat in the Midwest.)

Sure seems like Collins should’ve offered him a long time ago. He’s already better than anybody that NU is going to trot out at center this season, and if he’s being heavily pursued by Stanford, it’s not like Collins can pretend he couldn’t get into NU. Must’ve been too busy chasing lacrosse players than to do his due diligence on a kid that’s right in NU’s wheelhouse?

I’ll hang up so I can hear your response...

He has his only three 247 crystal balls to Illinois, and he has visited them twice. This is probably why the people on Loyalty believed he was headed there iback in May, and some there still believe he is headed there.

CC, like a number of other coaches in the mix, offered him only after it became clear that he was not the lock for Illinois that many were predicting...

I hope CC doesn't recruit this way.

Why? We probably recruited him, backed off when he didn't show any interest in us and a ton of interest in the Illini, then resumed when the expected committment to the Illini after his two visits there didn't happen...

If he's a high academic and gets offered by NU, Stanford and other similar schools you'd think he'd commit to one of those schools that also competes in an upper level bball conference. Using his talents to kill both the academics and the bball.

Come on combes, Kalkbrenner would not be on the same team as Kipper or Ayo, this is their last season. And we don't know yet if Kouma will ever play.

Giorgi (who has already battled injuries)

Tell me more about these injuries....

Pretty much every school's site that I've seen (Purdue, Mizzou, Illinois, Stanford, Corey Evans, Brian Snow, IU) have all said that Illinois is out front on this one. Not sure where you're reading though, but it's a Stanford-Illinois battle atm with other teams working to get in. Bossi said in another thread a few weeks ago that he thought Illinois but Mizzou was pushing for Midwest with Stanford being the choice if he leaves the Midwest.

And that impacted our depth how? All those games/minutes he missed because of it?

I can't wait to see what fully 100% Giorgi can do this season.
Our? Why does anyone here care about what Giorgi does this season?
Best to boast about how BU found Giorgi when no one else wanted him. Especially the Fighting Undie fans who ripped on his signing.

Dude can play. Admirable kid with an interesting background, from what I've heard.

Here are all the "Illini" and "Illinois" mentions in this thread:

Somebody does care. Someone cares quite a bit, apparently.

Uh, where did I say that impacted your depth? I was answering a question from another poster who seemed suspicious that Giorgi had an injury history...

Uh, these have nothing to do with Giorgi, but a recruit that has been offered by us. Try to keep up.

Sure thing, just answering the underlying implication.

Mike, maybe take it all over to the Illinois board and they'll follow?
