Is it worth buying right now? Was looking around at HH Gregg Saturday and the young sales dude told me that most of the good ones have upscaler that put 1080 to near 4K.

Is that truth or BS? I know there isn't much 4K content out there other than a few netflix shows but is the actually picture of a 4K that much better than 1080 with current cable content from box to TV with a UHD HDMI cable?

TIA

I bought a 70" Vizio for $1990 because I was not looking to spend $5000 on the same size Samsung or Sony. I think OLED is the next big thing so I did not want to go all in on LED Backlit. This TV is a perfect 3 year placeholder. My 60" Panasonic 1080p plasma is still way better though.

Just purchased a 65", 4K UHD, 3D by LG for my wife. (she is the tv watcher in the family). While there is not a lot of 4K content to be had as yet I have to say this TV does have a sharper picture on the HD channel then the Sharp Aquos we replaced.

But, I do have to say, I looked at a 55" OLED HD (not 4K) and I thought the picture on HD was even better than the one on the 4K TVs. The sales person said they had OLED 4K TVs on order. I'm definitely going back to see what kind of picture one of those has.

I like the OLED technology and I agree it is probably going to be the "next big thing" in TVs.

(I posted this in the other thread)

OLED is far more important than 4k, at 65" or below you are unlikely to tell the difference in resolution. There are a thousand charts online you can reference for distance/res. It's just science. Also there is zero chance 4k content and distribution becomes standardized any time soon, I mean 1080p content/dist isn't even standard. Maybe if Google Fiber increases 10x in the next couple year ie not happening.

On the other hand OLED is a remarkable tech and is the true heir to Plasma as the premier tech.

Don't buy a curved 4k 3d led just because the dweeb at Best Buy told you to, you're getting fleeced.

Needing a TV to take in and out to the deck for entertainment.

Was between the 55 inch sharp aquos4k $779 or a 60 inch Vizio 1080P $748.

Sounding like couldn't go wrong either way?
