Give me your ranking of the five best coaches in the country at this time.

I’ll give you mine:

1.) Dan Hurley
2.) Kelvin Sampson
3.) Mark Few
4.) Todd Golden
5.) Nate Oats

These are, I think the five best right now. No May until he gets to a Final Four. No Self or Izzo due to slight decline behind these five. What say you?

Dusty May took Florida Atlantic to a Final Four. He's big time I think...

I like Painter would be thrilled with him

Bottom in no particular order. It’s weird right now, so that can call change. But nobody has been more impressive than Beard and Oats to me.

Beard is winning where it’s literally impossible to win in college basketball and his resume is now impossible to overlook.

The Final Four deal is crazy. They just can't break through.
Oh Barnes. Eh, meh…..he’s at Tennessee for a reason. He’s not elite. He should have already retired but he can’t hang it up. Barnes was the most underachieving coach I think I’ve ever seen. Definitely not one of the best. Plays an old cheap brand, not impressive, teams can’t score about 60 half the time.

I think Barnes is a good coach, not great. He’s definitely not in any of those conversations. Like I said, he should have already retired he’s too old for this. Needs to go home with his family. His time is over. Doesn’t really matter what happens at this point, Barnes is what he is.

There’s a reason you’re on a blue blood board who’s won for 100 years and nobody named him. There’s a reason a Tennessee fan who’s never seen a final four thinks he’s in that class. And that’s not me being mean, I don’t think y’all have a full grasp of college basketball. If you did you wouldn’t call Barnes elite. To me, he tried to leave Tennessee and when he wasn’t able to do that it was the end of him having a shot. At the same time, he definitely should have never been fired at Texas he was too good for that. He’s great for UT, probably shouldn’t have taken it. He’s aware of that too. But that’s my honest assessment. You can’t coach as long as he has and have no hardware (nearly none) and be elite. I remember when his name was floated here in the mid 2000’s when we got rid of Tubby. We were terrified. But agian he’s been really good for Tennessee, but it’s too hard to win there. He’ll he gone after this season most likely and it’s back to normal. Tennessee usually makes about 5 bad hires then gets one that makes a few tournaments so.

Dang bro. He came in peace and you just ripped out the grenade launcher on him. Wow

Don’t know why he’d leave. Michigan is one of the deepest pocket universities in the country. They are set up nicely
Because their athletic department is in shambles right now. Have you been following their football stuff? It’s really bad. Like implicate the admin of the athletic department bad.

If Pope doesn’t work. May has gotta be the first guy you call because he might not want to deal with the headache going on right now.

Not really following. I’m a basketball nerd. I mostly only watch UK football. Thanks for filling me in though

It’s pretty bad. I don’t know how their AD isn’t in deep doo-doo.

Did I? Didn’t seem like it to me. Honest assessment. Barnes isn’t elite I mean, I’m not going to say he is when he isn’t. I said he’s really good for UT, but he’s not elite. You asked for the best, that’s definitely not him. Not sure how I brought out the guns.

Honestly, I have no respect nor pity for Tennessee fans. Worst most classless trash in the conference. I have a lot of experience with those dogs. Once they covered orange pride and what they were doing to their coeds that was it. They’re disgusting. But that one seemed okay which is rare for them so I tried to be respectful.

Rapes and pimping your coeds and not a word from their base. I know someone whose son was recruited to UT as an O-Lineman. They still talk about how disgusting it was, and he was a juvenile. I’ll leave it there.

We can get most coaches we want if Mitch really wants them, but May is an exception. He really really wanted Michigan. Not sure if he’s got family there but he really wanted it. They’re a top 5 NIL not just in football but basketball. They rival our NIL. They’ve got a better basketball NIL than UNC from the word of it. So, I usually don’t say this and maybe he would, it is Kentucky. But he’s one I would honestly doubt.

He would be in my honorable mentions. I don’t think he’s close to top 5 today. No disrespect and I know y’all should be ecstatic to have him
Calipari is capable of it, but right now he’s not top 5. If you look at his last 5 years, he’s not top 15. But he is the most dangeous of guys that low. He can strike fire, but I’m guessing he never gets a final four there. Too pop of a floor coach and it shows in the tournament. He can be up 15 with 7 to go and I still believe he’ll lose.

If Calipari was a legitimate top 5 coach he would still be here. I don’t understand why Arkansas fans don’t understand that. We wouldn’t have fractured that legacy had he been 2010 Calipari.

I don’t think we’d get him unless there’s a full blown crapshow going on within their athletic program. The scandal surrounding the Michigan football program is going to lead to a full sweep of their athletic department administration. Not like coaches haven’t left programs before due to scandals affecting other sports that end up bleeding into their own.

Completely agree. No hate, just not close to top 5 at this juncture

Not sold on Golden at all.
I'm not going to boost him to top five status based on the fact he won a championship with covid exemption players.
Goldens run from a coaching perspective was far less impressive than Billy D's run to the title game in 2000 and Billy lost.
