It would be unforgiveable if Pope misses on Collins, Holt, and Stokes. Tubby-level unforgiveable. Pope has to find a way to close on at least one of those guys, or he will totally lose the fan base. This is particularly true considering that most of this team's current parts are role players, and almost all of them are scheduled to return for another season. That's not good. A second edition of inferiority is unacceptable.

I‘m confused.

There have been reports that Pope let's his emotions get involved in the negotiation process. Again reports/rumors. So it is a combination of things.
