It'd mean a lot more if there was a pay cap across all D1 schools. But, Congress bullrushed this crap into existence because the NCAA was bloated garage. So, even though we're SEVERAL years into this, there's no end to the Wild West in sight. Screw Mark Emmert.
Congress has never made anything better over the past 50 years. Every act they pass is shortsighted, filled with bloat that benefits them, and is labeled something it’s not. Like the Patriot act.

I agree for the most part. The Great American Outdoors Act kicked *** though. Still, one piece of legislation in recent memory ain't great.

Until we stop allowing wedge issues to control the way we think, it will never stop. Only collective action from a big majority will change it.

For that to happen some people have got to stop being so insanely far out on a ledge you can’t reach them at all. When it was tax differences it could have happened. Now, I won’t get started as to what it would take to form collective unity. They’ve branched us so far out. When you don’t believe in strong nationalism I can’t find you. It’s absurd. It’s YOUR country tard!

Being a star in any system means nothing as long as they get paid.
Sure it does having a good system and players around you make you a better player, better players get looked at more, getting looked at more improves your draft prospects... you see where im going with this. The system matters.

Pope went after him hard I’m pretty sure. Wonder what the disconnect is with high profile freshman. Maybe Pope isn’t making promises to them which I’m ok with.

I hope he starts landing some of these top recruits because we’re missing out on a lot of targets.
Seems we are missing on every single one. I’m not in panick mode but it’s concerning. I get it we have the portal but these are top ten guys we put in a lot of effort recruiting just to strike out.

this is one I would of assumed we had locked up the way Pope went after him. I’m ok with having older players but please just don’t strike out on Stokes. I’m hoping the talks of us landing Stokes pushed this kid away. Don’t want to strike out on both!!

Pope needs to get the monkey off his back and prove he can land some of these top recruits. Other coaches are feeding off this.

Well we weren’t getting him AND Stokes . Who would you have chosen? So are you still “pretty sure” we went after him hard ?
Idk man yea I’m pretty sure we went after him hard. Didn’t think we were getting both but as of now we don’t have either one.. I’ll take Stokes if we get to pick.

And I said I’m pretty sure because I could be wrong but that’s why I’m on the forum to discuss it brother. I didn’t say we absolutely went at him hard and struck out. Pope may have backed off at the end I don’t have a clue. I don’t know anything I say on here is true it’s all just my opinion but maybe I took what you said the wrong way.

I’m agree with you. I hope that to be the case.
As of now it looks like we could have only a few spots to fill for next year. So we gotta be super choosey. Now if we don’t get Stokes it might be time to be concerned. Because I KNOW Pope prioritized Stokes .

Not saying you don’t but how do you know? I heard about Thompson since last year. Seen him visit three or four times. Stokes didn’t even seem like a possibility until a couple months ago. Once again idk. Im asking you since YOU KNOW.

I misspoke. I should have said, It’s obvious or It seems . I don’t have any inside information other than what we read on HOB and I’m skeptical of that these days. But I do believe Pope liked Thompson a lot, but after meeting with Stokes he liked him too . It seemed we cooled on Thompson and went all in on Stokes .

Sucks we are missing but that lends to the fact that Stokes probably comes. It makes sense.
