When I was a boy fascinated by UFOs, about a dozen years or so after this happened, I read about it in a book I bought with my allowance: "Flying Saucers: Serious Business."

I was amazed to find it got its own Wiki entry. Seems like the last place I'd travel millions of light years to visit, but I doubt they'll be coming back after the reception they got.

He described it as disc-shaped in appearance, and featured lights on its side that had "all of the colors of the rainbow".

Based on Billy Ray Taylor's description they probably settled in San Fransisco or the Florida Keys.

My grandmother grew up in central missouri and back in the 30's, a supposed comet crashed but her cousins who lived slightly closer swore it was a ship. So on her long walk to school they saw little demons in the woods watching them.... yeah she described greys. then fast forward to 2000.. She saw another one, unfortunately for me, I was spending the night there that night.

Ever notice since our technology has evolved..like phones where everyone has a pocket video camera on them that alien sightings have decreased.

This story puts me in the slipstream of nostalgia. When I was about eight to eleven, I was totally into stories of UFOs -- this was the late 1960s and newspapers were shameless about hyping such stories, especially in the summer. Science was just at the point where ruling out civilized life on Mars was possible so the idea of spaceships from another world visiting was far less farfetched back then. I used to go out in a field behind my house in the summer and sleep in a sleeping bag, earnestly watching the skies and hoping to spot a real UFO.

I remember reading this account and getting chills. Didn't seem nearly as ludicrous to a nine year old boy in the 1960s.

What makes you think they've decreased? They haven't, its just with newer technology, people now automatically assume its all fake because its so easy to fake it.

Or because people have realized that A. If there are aliens it doesn't necessarily mean they are smarter and if they were smarter, that would mean they have the technology to get here..but why randomly come here out of the infinite possibilities and if they did im sure they wold try to cimmunization before hand..not just ran dimly hoover. And B. When you come into orbit and see all the bright city lights all around the world and different terrains, they're like "yeah see that pasture in rural nowhere..let's investigate that..it's probably a complete representation of this planet"

You see a pasture of grass. They might see DNA strands, chemicals, food..... etc. You see rednecks and fools, they might see lab experiments.

Why would they come here? why do humans go to a zoo? Why do we as a people yearn to seek out life beyond what we know?

And there are plenty of stories of people seeing UFO's over those places you say... Remember the phoenix lights in 97? The Texas incident a few years ago while most of it was over rural areas, it went over cities too. My uncle was air traffic control and has several stories of UFO's over the STL and Chicago air ports. The stories are out there from credible people but you have completely closed off your mind to the possibility to even look for those stories.

Yes I'm in the other side... Im a complete believer but there is a reason. I completely agree, stories should be taken with a skeptical eye but there are far far too many stories over thousands of years for anyone to just say aliens aren't visiting earth. Even if I didnt have an encounter, I'd still see the stories of credible witnesses over that many years as proof there is something out there going on... the question is what.

And to assume they are aliens from another planet is incorrect as well. Maybe we are witnessing time travelers or extra dimensionals

...you trying to rationalize something that you have no clue about whatsoever

UFO reports skyrocketed after we split the atom in 1946. I think that must have set off some sort of cosmic 9-11 call that may have attracted the attention of superior races.

The supernatural... Extraterrestrials is somewhat fascinating but what mankind has given reverence to since our existence has been the idea of Gods and Devils and demons and angels, aliens take a backseat.
