In our last 2 games, after leading a mediocre Louisville team 21 to 0, and a slightly better than mediocre Southern Miss. team 35 to 10. We closed out these 2 games by being out scored 72 to 3. What does Stoops do, does he get a lead and then start to play chicken **** football by trying to run out the clock? Does he play not to lose? How can anyone recruit so good and then coach so bad?

This much is clear:

1) It was not Dawson. I still don't think he was a good fit at UK.
2) Adjustments at halftime and during the game are non-existent
3) The head coach does nothing to motivate/inspire/fire-up his guys on the sidelines as he looks defeated
4) Playcalling in second half becomes predictable. Refer to point #1. Stoops may be controlling Gran the same way he controlled Dawson.
5) DJ Elliot can't coach this defense
6) Defensive line is the alpha and omega of our problems on D.
7) At some point these players have got to dig deep and perform in a crucial situation.

A good coach can recruit average players, 2 and 3 stars, and win, and a coach who can't adjust to the other teams plays can recruit 3 and 4 stars and will still get his a$$ beat. Like the old saying, "He can take his players and beat you, or he can take your players and beat you." I think that is the problem we have at the present.
Stoops was a good DC, but maybe the game is going to fast for him as a HC. Last night the team was well prepared in the first half, but no adjustments in the second half when USM changed their game plan.

As I think is well known, I've been a broken record on this for years. I don't care how a recruiting class is ranked, without 3-4 quality DL in most you're going to be toast.

I'm beginning to think it is more mental than anything.
As soon as they had that long play to end the half, we looked scared.
Instead of celebrating the fact we were up 18, we just figured we would blow it again.
Then we drop a int, get a poor PI call, and let them score again, and you know the rest.
That starts at the top..someone needs to come here and have the gonads to grab these situations by the neck and twist, not just hope things work out.
