Against a team that averages 16 1/2 turnovers per game. Thought we handled the press well; had a few TOs in the first half but settled down after that...

We lost the game at the FT line. A 65-70% FT shooter before tonight averaging about 2 FT per game was 16/17. Why were we so out of position that we had to commit 27 fouls?

I see tonight’s game being lost in the first 5-10 minutes. The Illini sped NU up tremendously and as a result created a big hole to climb out of.

That being said, you could easily make the case that poor foul shooting played large roles in defeats against Iowa (road) and Wisconsin (home). Converting at the charity stripe been an issue throughout conference play.

Having a team shoot something like 38 FTs against you is going to make it hard to beat them no matter how well you play the rest of the game. Our FT shooting was not terrible. But IL as a team was unconscious. The are a team that generally does not shoot that many FTs and doesn't shoot them that well. I don't disagree that us being ice cold at the beginning and they being hot put us in a bad spot but them getting all the FTs and hitting them is what finished us off

The Illini obviously went to the line a ton (some on phantom calls), but when you play on the road in the BIG against an uber aggressive team it should be somewhat expected.

NU playing out of sorts from the tip as well as not being able to hit the broadside of a barn for 20 minutes were bigger factors in tonight’s loss.

It was about 10. THey did score 27 pts in the first half (and most in the last 10 min)
which is better than most of our recent games.

NU shot MUCH better after the break. Went 1-13 from deep in the first 20.

Agree to disagree.

That being said, I do feel this effort was much closer the narrow miss against Bucky than whatever you want to call what we witnessed against Goldie.
