I realize attendance would increase if they were to join the B12, but it to me is a good indicator of fan support and growth potential to look at attendance over a significant period of time. That way, you can see past one-year spikes in attendance when they have an exceptionally good year or unusually poor year.

The addition of any of these teams will not save the Big Not-So-12, not when considering distance and brand name appeal.

If that's who we're aiming at bringing in, count me out. Probably good teams with good fans, but not only do they add no real revenue to the conference, they probably decrease everybody else's share.

Based on attendance figures, the teams that would "fit" with the Conference are ... surprise, surprise ... BYU and East Carolina. Anybody want either?

By the way, where the hell is East Carolina?

BW, you may be right. But BYU will never be in the conference. If they could be, they already would be. I do believe however that if Colorado State came into the conference, they'd build a quality following. They're at least as good as Colorado. And there are those in the area that would rather watch Big XII football than Pac 12.

Attendance figures are usually very inflated and are not attendance at all, but tickets distributed......that is tickets sold and given away etc

How big are their stadiums? I have been to two games at Colorado State, and their stadium is not very big at all. All of these schools would have to increase the size of their stadium in order to become members of the Big XII and then somehow find a way to sell more tickets.

That's true CT, but in the end the Big XII is gonna invite someone. There are really no great options. There are only the "best" of what's out there, which isn't really saying much. But I think if inviting a couple of the teams on that list can actually save the Big XII and help improve it, then I think instead of looking at those programs past attendance, we should look at what joining the Big XII can do to improve their programs attendance and overall quality of their respective football programs. I think that kind of longterm future outlook will save the Big XII in the long run.

I hope you're right.
But something that has not yet been mentioned is having OU taking care of its own business and performing at a dominate level each year, regardless of what the conference does or does not do. OU still has its "brand name" among the elite programs and I believe it would be a good scenario for OU to be the best Big 12 (or not-so-12) team, much like Ohio State is in the Big 10 or Alabama in the SEC, even if the rest of the conference teams were to fall into mediocrity.
This is a realistic wish on my part.
