Let us not to be so naive that it can't happen again. OFC
While that's true, it should be balanced such that we don't compromise our freedoms for the illusion of safety.

This is one of the more positive things I've seen about 9/11, and I hope it represents the future of how we will commemorate it, how we will "never forget":

Sky, good post. I have a T-Shirt with an Eagle on the front, which has a tear drop coming from each eye, and also the burning Towers on it, with the fateful date across the bottom. I have worn it on each and every Sept. 11, since that dreadful day, and will continue to wear it until I die.
Watching the specials on the History channel every year, I still get choked up and brought back to reality, but feel I must watch them to "never forget".

Live one hr from NYC. Amazingly, did not lose a single friend/relative that day. I do know many who have been forever affected emotionally and or have continuing health issues.

That said, if you really want to be safe...quit smoking, don't text and drive, drive the speed limit, get a CO detector for your house, etc. I am no pacifist. I am all for wiping ISIS et. al. off the face of the earth. And, please don't think I am diminishing anything that happened 14 years ago. Just that all too often we ignore many serious, everyday threats that we can do something about but don't.

I like the Hope angle too. Hard to find a better concept to promote.
