It's a problem, but I think it's also a perception issue. We have a friend with an overweight daughter who is almost 11. It's all about excuses. "I was big at her age too" or "she's active" or "she's not as big as some kids in her class". It's true you can be active and feel/test 'healthy' at a young age.

This is what I've dealt with most of my life. Was a husky kid, ate crap most of the time with a side of veggies/fruit always, played sports, was active, etc. I finally hit my growth spurt (waaaaay late) and I thinned out but kept the same habits. Now it's screwing me for being stupid and lazy all those year and eating crap. It's something I'm working on, but I'm sure my health has already taken the hit. I'll be damned if my kids have that happen to them.

While checking out fat kid gifs, I found this old gif. It's much better than fat kids.

I have enough of my own problems to worry about if someone else's kids are fat.

What is really annoying is how clothes sizes have gotten messed up. What used to be L is M, what should be XXXL is L. Can't have big people knowing their actual size.

This just in: 1 out of 10 posters in this thread doesn't know that he's overweight.

Overweight people should be taxed more on the basis of taking up more space and holding more water away from the rest of the world than they should be and for consuming more food than they should be, etc., etc., etc. Disgusts me so each time I travel home from Europe. It is as if we have managed to create a new race of humans on the basis of dimensional mis-proportion. Americans are vulgar with their eating habits and magnificently lazy in their routines. In mainland Europe you will never find people eating in their cars, you won't find a line of soda machines outside a grocery, huge bags of potato chips at every check-out, gunted 20 year old women, fat police, fat polizei, fat polizia . . .

I don't understand the fat kid thing at all. As I recall, my friends and I could eat whatever we wanted growing up, but we were so active it didn't matter. And yes, we had video games. Are kids today not doing anything anymore?
