A big issue in crunch time

When it’s crunch time and the possessions become more important, the offense goes stagnant. The motion stops, the ball movement slows down and everyone just stands around the perimeter with one lame ball screen at the top of the key. Usually results in a turnover or a bad shot.

How about this;
When the possessions really matter, the motion speeds up, people cutting hard to the basket, and the ball movement is sharp and fast. Make the defense work and move!! Fast player and ball movement. If the movement is fast and there’s not a good shot, go inside to Young. He may score or draw a foul. Seems like a better plan than a dead stagnant offense with Audige, Nance or Buie heaving up a terrible shot out of desperation.

Collins' strategy throughout his tenure to try close out games is to put the ball in the hands of his lead guard, clear the deck, and let the guard make a play. Deadly predictable. His losing record shows how successful that strategy has been. Ugh.

His formative years were spent watching Jordan make something amazing happen, until Reinsdorf decided Big Chief Triangle was a better option.

Maybe he watched Hoosiers too many times.

Young is the only guy capable of scoring inside during crunch time!

Think about how grateful other coaches must be when, instead of seeing Pete Nance and Ryan Young on the floor in a tight game, they look over and see Pete Nance and Robbie Beran... or Ryan Young and Robbie Beran...

If we put Young and Nance on the floor, you have to guard both of them. Otherwise, not so much.
