during MNF I had an interesting though and wanted to pick your brains on what you guys think in this hypothetical.

When Charlie left in 2013, we had some of the best talent In the nation. I mean we had the most draft picks at one point other than teams like Alabama and Ohio State.

We all talk about how we should’ve never brought Bobby back and how it has set us back. Now Scott has got us on the right track, but it’s going to take a bit to build us back to where Charlie has left the talent level.

To be clear, we had 10 guys drafted in the 2015 draft. Bobby went 9-4 with that team, barely even beat sUcKs and got blown out in the bowl game. Say we brought in a legit coach during that time and Tom has actually done a coaching search, man we might have be in a strong spot today with the fall of FSU.

But say Bobby never comes back, we never get Lamar. No Heisman memories and no fun in 2016.

If we get a better coach? Program is in better shape and we may have went to multiple NY6 bowls and we’d be in the playoff race in a year like this with the ACC way down.

So what’s your choice in this hypothetical?

Bobby never comes and the program does better, but no Lamar.

Bobby comes back, gets Lamar, wrecks the program

I wouldn’t trade Lamar for anything, but I am a fan of the Cards first. Tough for me.

I happen to think we’re right where we need to be. And we were a half yard from getting the first down that lets us beat Clemson at Clemson in 2016. I am a big proponent of the idea that a win in that game completely changes the way the rest of the season plays out. With an ACC and national championship to play for, we give a more focused effort at Houston and possibly escape that buzz saw with a W. Then Grantham and the defense doesn’t mail it in against Kentucky.

And then a year later Tom leaves. Then Lamar heads out of town. He was ready to head home with his millions.

I personally was so excited that BP was back. I wanted Bobby 1.0 football again. IMO, To err is human. Stayed that way until the collapse. Now I’m just ticked he wasn’t man enough to fix the broken parts whatever they may have been.

PS: I can’t bring myself to vote.

I totally agree. Also I can’t vote either, perhaps it’s the choices. But at any rate I just cannot vote but I do have to admit my mistake in “supporting the return of Bobby Petrino”. I wuz wrong.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

I vote BP with Lamar because every program especially Louisville has its ups and downs it is unavoidable. There aren’t many that have a Heisman winner and potential NFL MVP.

Petrino is the reason why the program tanked but he is a big part of the quick turn around. He knew how to recruit to his side of the ball. The skill players are in place. The Oline while incredible thin has players. There are 3 4 star players on the line, Bentley, Chandler and Becton.

I voted for Lamar. I never thought we'd have a Heisman winner. Tennessee doesn't have a Heisman winner.

And I wasn't really watching the NFL, but now I'm all in on Lamar and the Ravens. So much fun.

And if things didn't implode the way they did with Petrino, we probably don't have Coach Satt now, and we are in great hands moving forward. No, I wouldn't change a thing.

I voted for wins. Always wins. Love Lamar, but it’s a
team game. To win like that we would have to have had other great players.

the question is a loaded one: what do you mean by better results? If it’s an ACC title or playoff appearance, that might change some of the votes.

BP is gone.

Been gone. And staying gone.

Maybe from everywhere.

I never think of him until he is brought up on this board, which is regularly

I'm afraid as a fan base we will never get over DC, CS, RP, TJ, BP. Cardinal Life is a #itch sometimes. But we have great memories over the years. Some universities would die for a fraction of our great memories.

I like Lamar and am super proud he won a heisman representing the University of Louisville but I am a Cards fan first and foremost and from the small sample size I have seen I think l wish Satterfield had been here instead of Petrino 2.0.
