Pretty much a stand up guy. By all accounts a very good person and a hell of an athlete. I've read some books and seen some documentaries about his life and the events around his death and it's all fascinating. A lot of of people would be surprised at some details about him and it's disgusting what our military, government and other leaders did after his death. That said, you don't see people like Tillman too often. He was different, but in a good way.

Good word, fascinating. Just hard to imagine that a guy would give up sure millions and NFL stardom to go serve in harm's way. There should truly be a movie about this guy. I suspect had he not died from friendly fire, there would be.

A fellow brother, who put love of his country over money. America, once had a lot of men like that, Jimmie Stewart, Kirk Douglas, Capt. Kangaroo, George Bush, Sr. Ted Williams, and many more from Hollywood.
Then we have Sylvester Stallone, who went to Canada and made porn movies instead of serving his country. I also flew with a lot of them when I was a pilot with Northwest Airlines. Their parents had money, so they were able to "Dodge the draft." I was not drafted, since I was married with a little girl, but I felt that being married, should not prevent me from serving my country. It truly was the best experience of my life.
