I think that position was vacant last year after Ryan Humphrey left for Notre Dame...it never hurts to have outstanding former players in that position in the program.

This is a first job type of position and Collins mo seems to be to hire former players looking to move into coaching. And letting them gain a year of experience before they get that first assistant job.

Although Guyton WAS an assistant coach on a D League team last year......
