Back in the early 30s, my great uncle from wv decided to attend Pitt as a 2-way lineman. Early in his first term he was feeling a little homesick and went home for the weekend.

The wv staff heard about it and invited him to come visit Morgantown.

The Pitt staff heard about it and sent an extraction team to try to bring him back.

the wv staff found out, and hid him in a succession of fraternity houses over the weekend.

Joe stydahar had a great time, and never went back to Pitt. Ended up a 2-time letterman basketball, and a third team aa in football as a two way tackle.

later, first ever draft pick of the bears, hof, nfl all decade team, la rams championship coach.

too bad panthers.

Cool funny story. Sounds like something that would happen between these schools, at that time. Just read his Wikipedia page.
