A little historical nugget regarding NU's conference record

I did a little digging and found out that with a win over Penn State, the 'Cats would move to two games over .500 in conference play for the first time since the 2005-06 season and for only the third time in 32 years.

The last time NU hoops was three games over .500 in BIG play?

48 years ago during the 1967-68 campaign.

I keep reminding posters about NU basketball from the late 60's- NU was very good but only one team made the tourney. NU played some great teams during that era-UCLA(Alcindor) Louisville(Unseld) Kentucky(Riley) plus conference teams Michigan(Tomjonovich, Russell) Purdue (Mount)

NU actually had a 10 point lead against UCLA at Chicago Stadium, beat Louisville, lost to Kentucky in OT when we were called for an offensive foul(Charge) on a last second shot

Tonight is no gimme. They've got to show up!

Of course we've got to show up-- otherwise we forfeit!

But seriously, Penn State is not as horrific as, say, Minny or Rutgers. They are DePaul-quality, which means not bad, but not good either. But we will need to play well to beat them; we play like we did against OSU, we lose, unless PSU throws in a real stinker.

I think I would have preferred a forfeit.
