I went thru the conference games so far (thru Tuesday Jan 17) to see how well each team was affecting its opponents shooting/scoring.
Here are the numbers... You can form your own impressions. "2FG" is the average number of 2 point field goals made against the defense per game.
TOV is the turnovers forced by the defense per game.

The most significant notions that occur to me are...

We are not an elite defense in the Big Ten, unless the only consideration is steals/turnovers.
Our perimeter defense is essentially the worst in the Big Ten, allowing 1.273 points per 3 point attempt.
Our opponents are far more effective against us from outside the arc than inside. We have the biggest discrepancy in the league, by a significant margin.
Rutgers is excellent at defending the paint and Michigan State stands out for its perimeter defense, trying to suppress their opponents 3 point shooting.
