I warned back when we hired Pope that people didn't need to just accept it and the fans should revolt like TAMU did when they were going to hire Stoops. Yet, many of you got all nostalgic and gitty. Then you flocked to a glorified pep rally for the 96 Cats and Pitino, filling Rupp Area and leaving thousands outside begging to get in.

All that for a very mediocre resume.

This is what happens when you settle and accept the status quo as a fanbase.

I openly admit that I got very nostalgic, and thought that he would do his best to mimic what Pitino brought here. I think Pope is a really nice person, his family is wonderful. And the introduction at Rupp was a lot of fun. Like many UK fans I was so done with The Grunting Dog Walker that I welcomed someone who seemed to be the direct opposite in so many ways. Obviously that was flawed thinking, unfair to Pope, and too quick to settle.

Fans didn’t hire Pope. So how is this the fans fault?

There's nothing wrong with supporting a new coach and waiting to see if he can do the job before calling for his firing and UK fans will always do that. But we're there now...

Completely biased take, the vast majority of us didn’t want him, though it was only appropriate to be welcoming at that point and be supportive.
