Using the Wayback Machine, I did a little survey of the topics being discussed on the front page of this board around this date in 2015 compared to what is on the board now. Some interesting trends. Take it for what it’s worth, which may not be much. Disclaimer: I do have one person blocked currently who used to be a chronic thread starter.

Comparing any recent year to 2020 is probably foolish. What did you expect?

You gave it a good try though.

Point is, we have many threads pretty much making the same points over and over again. Having the same arguments between the same people over and over again.

It’s time to Make the Paddock Great Again.

My "Apps..." thread was made immediately after I got a divorce and had shattered my phone after throwing it against a wall.

I will concede that some posters start threads that should clearly be in the political forum...I don't do that, I usually just ignore those threads...but a lot of things we love in society like sports have came to a halt in recent months. So my argument was it isn't fair to compare some random time in 2015 to today.

But if I don't repeat myself over and over again in multiple threads, how will everyone know what my position is and why theirs is terrible and wrong? If my repetitive and disparaging vitriol doesn't win them over to my side, what will, you stupid idiot?

Read over the stats again. Sports are about the same still. Everything else on here has taken a backseat to you-know-what. There is still booze, girls and TV going on.

Maybe we’re just getting old.

Just like in life we go through phases as we age and most look back fondly on their youth of having free time for video games and chasing girls. Then life kicks most in the nuts with the reality boot.

The paddock too got kicked in the 1st and 0’s, Twitter has siphoned off an influx of young horny stupid talent from the paddock. Leaving aging men more concerned with lefts and rights than actual fun stuff.

Lately I can’t see some posts in a thread that others have quoted, I can see it when they do quote. I don’t have those people on ignore, unfrozencatfanlawyer posted in here but I only see the quote. Strange

I was speaking in general terms...'things in society like sports' includes a number of frivolous topics...there wasn't any bars or casinos or any fun places open for a while so that might explain some less talk about booze or girls.

If your argument is that people who start new threads about the riots or the flag should probably just post in the political forum...I agree.

I believe you miscatagorized the Jenner thread as "threads about girls." That belongs in the "various/others" dept. Thx for your prompt attention to this matter.
I think there were 3 of them on that page under different names. What a wild time. Still better than red v. blue

Agreed even though I'm as guilty as any of stirring the political pot on here. Hopefully we get sports going in the next month or so and can get back to normalcy on here as well as in real life.

TL;DR: more titties plz.

As far as allegedly racist posts go, even if you don't think they are racist, this is a UK board, even for general discussion, and a lot of our players, families, and ex players are on the site. Aside from all my other reasons, I would very much prefer to keep this site for general discussion, if you want to talk politics, we have a thread devoted fully to that, and if that doesn't allow you to fully express your opinion, there is FB, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, etc.

Wasn’t much out of the ordinary “super serious stuff” going on in 2015. The only thing similar to 2015 is that it was a POTUS election year...which is obviously why you chose that year.

Certainly wasn’t a pandemic in 2015 causing an overreaching 3 month lockdown of businesses, sports, barbers, churches, etc...2015 also didn’t have 25+ major cities in this country in flames due to rioting/looting.

Sure, most of those topics on the catspaws wind up turning political. Which sucks. But why is that? Probably because almost everything has become political.

No. It was the first year that the new board URL was indexed.

Everything only gets political if someone brings it up and makes it political.

By “everything” I mean everything in society has become political. Sports, social media, TV shows, commercials, cartoons, etc...

Teh paddock is simply mirroring society.

Agree to disagree then. I believe we can have conversations about all of those things without making it political. See: the race car chick thread.

Political people have become insufferable. Back in the day people used to be private about their politics, religion, etc. Apparently that’s not a thing anymore, and everything they think or talk about is politics. Almost like they feel it’s their job to preach their political thoughts and try and convert to their side. They’ve turned into jehovahs witnesses basically.

We agree on 3 things for sure...

1) All of the topics on catspaws being/becoming political sucks
2) I also believe we can & should have conversations about things without making it political
3) A Naughty Bob thread about a big breasted race car driver turned porn star shouldn’t turn political

What I am saying is that everything in society is becoming more and more political. Only makes sense that it would bleed over to something like random topics on a meaningless message board. Not saying I like it.

Well that’s unfortunate because we keep getting out-recruited by more racist fan-bases. I’m looking at you Deep South schools. I was with some Bama grads this weekend from KY; they were shocked with the crap they heard when they first got down there.

This board is becoming more and more like Facebook. It's a bunch of middle aged white people who are mean as f&$%. No one has a discussion, just shouting extreme positions they know virtually nothing about. The only real fun here are ridiculous death threads, smoking hot perverted teachers, and dropping mentally challenged comments into the legitimate serious question posts. Dammit, I do those as a service. I'm a giver.

Whatever happened to the variety of the past? We need GhostVol, DunstFreeNAliveWTF, etc. Even Zisdura the original, the wide open version of Willy, and more.

I don't doubt that, and not just the deep south either . . . but doesn't help us here as UK fans.
