A word on Arizona fans

I moved to Tucson midseason and I'll say that if there is another fan base you want to like it is these guys. I haven't met a single UofA fan who has been hateful toward UK. The worst thing that anyone has said was along the lines of "UK kills me because Arizona would have a chance to win it all this year if it weren't for UK." I have a UK flag hanging from my front porch and I wear UK gear sometimes and people will stop to talk to me about basketball. They know details about the UK Wildcats. They even know details about individual UK players. When talking coaches I said to one guy that UK might end up with Miller as the coach some day and he said, "You're probably right," like he realized it was entirely possible and wasn't a bit mad about it.

Super nice people out here as a whole. It is a really laid back small city.

Thanks for the info, OP. Really nice to hear that. I've never had a problem with Zona' fans, known some really die hard ones, too, but they were great people (actually several of them were born in Kentucky before moving to Arizona)

Olsen had those tough teams in the mid nineties and was high times for them. I think it would be a heckofa matchup if we met them in the FF or title game....

maybe they've changed since Lute Olsen, but after 97' and after Tubby's Championship they thought they had taken over as a perennial powerhouse and were pretty snooty about it

If they lost Miller to us they could grab his brother.

I think the Fighting Stanley Johnsons have been plenty chest puffy lately as is evident from the message boards I came across during the course of the UK hatefest undefeated season...

The ones I ran into at the RCA Dome in 1997 were both arrogant and ignorant. But, maybe they've changed. Wouldn't bet on it though.
