Just based on my own bias - AAA over the long haul is a better group of talent than AA.
Public schools only AAA wins going away
Including the privates AA wins thanks to McCort and Faith plus other.
I miss the old Challenge of the Champions. Always looked forward to that.
I don't think it's "going away" by any means. AAA definitely gets 4, and there are several toss-ups.
Plus, let's not get carried away with the McCort/Faith effect. Forest Hills (AA) is the home district for the Bassetts + Miller. Keegan would lose to Sidun. Effendian would lose to Bechtold. Singer placed 3rd, so he's not in this matchup. Joe Bachmann, Waters, and Weidemoyer would have their hands full with Ballard, Hutcherson, and Brown.
Big Bachman probably wins because he has the Mark Hall trait of ‘always’ winning. Waters is my pick due to early onset man strength. Brown wins 215. AA wins on my tally but the matches are all good
It’s weird that those schools all chased AA knowing what they were building. But AA has their public school hammers (lil Deputy, karenbaurer) and what schools would have the McDevitt/Cort/Berks/FCU went to if their wrestling club didn’t hijack a small private school? How many out of state transfers tilted the scales?
Plus if the private school kids were excluded altogether, what results would change?
If Bo Bassett and Miller were both out, AA still wins those weights. Harer and Milheim are better than Vielma and Ciampoli.
But maybe some other results change?
