I still think there is a locker room issue and Pope doesn't know how to handle the situation.
Everyone is getting paid I know, but you can’t tell me part of the problem is “I’ve already got my money” type behavior. And I would almost bet it’s coming from the guy or guys that’s making the most…..I’m too cool to be here and I don’t have to play hard cause I got my bag attitude.

He needs to stop thinking and just have that tantrum on the court before God and everybody. Give those players something to be afraid of. I’d love to half-be scared Pope is about to choke a kid-Bobby Knight style on the court one time just to demand a little bit of fear from the players. Only once.
All Pope needs to do is bench those not showing full effort during a game. He should not be afraid of Otega or Garrison or anyone. All fine and good on positive motivation but it is not working and he has to take charge.
I can't remember his name but there was a "no-star" player for Kentucky who in a game maybe at MSG with minimal talent came off the bench and fought like hell to help Kentucky win the game. It is not just about talent.

They have a PR Team and were probably given talking points before. So I assume it's half true and half not.
I didn’t hear anyone blaming the coach. They took ownership. Sounded humbled and that can be a good thing.
You can’t give teenagers millions of dollars and not expect problems.
Why does no one ever call out and ask about the lack of effort and focus?
I can't believe they were allowed to sit there and answer that many questions. This whole season is wild.
The problems with this team go far beyond coaching and talent.
But coaching has a large part of it from the leadership standpoint.
If it could be said that a Pope team has never quit before then it’s on the players.
But Pope’s teams quit several games last season too.
Yeah there was ZERO blaming of Pope. Not saying it's not also his fault but people are making a problem worse with all the rumors and distortions.

I thought he was a problem before the interview and he just made it worse with that nonchalant and delusional performance.
We only have 2 teenagers right? Jelavich is 20, Chandler was 20 last year, Kam might still be but he's one of the only players who has hustled he just isn't used to the jump in competition but he plays hard. Not counting JQ because he hasn't went out there and given 0 effort, I'm aware he is another teenager
Let them get their whole team out on the floor. The one they envisioned. Injuries have derailed this group. Hang in there with them or just take a season off. Come back at a later date. I saw a team vs Purdue that I really liked. Do not like this recent version. Let’s get Lowe and Mo back in there and add JQ. Obviously, will take them time to acclimate but the talent is there. Not having Lowe and Mo is really hurting. JQ is our enforcer and rim protector. He by himself will elevate the whole team .
Exactly, the maturity to handle that much money and continue to not have messed up heads isn't there. NIL is one of the worst things to happen to college sports.
I think Pope might be the one coach who would let his players do it without consequence.

If POPE doesn't grow a set of balls soon, and dismiss/bench the players who are culpable, He will have no choice but to resign at the end of the year.
First question to Aberdeen should be "Do you need contacts or glasses or something?" or "Have you had your vision checked recently?" That's too many airballs to be coming from a kid that's made it this far in the sport.
Nope. Just doesn't seem to be that kinda person. I said a few weeks back now that I think DA is the team's leader. It's a human quality that some have and some don't. Can't be taught or coached. Pope should know who's who and should name captains. None of this lead by committee crap.

It's called reading between the lines. Most of what Aberdeen said falls on the coach at the end of the day. For example, "Need to be better prepared for the upcoming team." That's on Pope making sure they are prepared.

That was a practice, they looked like that because everyone was half assing it.
I dont understand this logic. Does it automatically disappear when people play in the nba or overseas and ppl make different amounts of money and one guy gets a max contract? Do they quit and say i "got my bag"
Uk has the highest collective, but not one the highest paid players in basketball besides JQ... so why haven't the other teams quit with those players?
That's the root of our problem. Most of our team stats are OK, except in one key category....3Pt%. We're 240th in the NCAA.

it’s a disastrous combination of youth and the arrogance learned when everyone tells you how great you are. The only hope is that some of our players wake up to the fact that they are destroying their future earnings with their malcontent attitudes.
