I don’t think the team has quit and I don’t even know if there is a lockeroom problem .

One thing NIL doesn’t account for is building a team with chemistry . Not to mention we don’t have any star players. It could be as simple as an overhyped team .

He needs to stop thinking and just have that tantrum on the court before God and everybody. Give those players something to be afraid of. I’d love to half-be scared Pope is about to choke a kid-Bobby Knight style on the court one time just to demand a little bit of fear from the players. Only once.
Don't know what Pope does with these kids making big money. I have an uncle that coached for years. Running a driil/play in practice, if you screw up, you run the bleachers then and there. Sometimes, you need to get their attention.

I watched the 1st 5 minutes of this. Where do he blame Pope?
You didn’t hear his first quote: “Pope sucks. He doesn’t know the difference between a duck-in and Daffy Duck.”

Another quote: “I’m so sick of Pope playing that mohagany mandolin and singing ‘Kumbaya’ around the campfire. His singing voice is hella pitchy.”

Screw both of them. Look in the freaking mirror. Pathetic, embarrassing, and unacceptable effort by them, and their teammates. Don’t deserve to to wear the uniform. STFU.

Um if you understand basketball he says indirect things that fall on the coach at the end of the day. Maybe you should watch all of it?
This is like people who own an umbrella then concoct a theory around jewish space lasers causing wildfires. I mean....they own an umbrella so they are experts in all things weather.

Conspiracy theories are for the simple.

First question to Aberdeen should be "Do you need contacts or glasses or something?" or "Have you had your vision checked recently?" That's too many airballs to be coming from a kid that's made it this far in the sport.
I originally thought it was some sort of depth perception issue.

It's crazy because their shooting is so bad it truly does warrant the question of vision or practice backboard / goal depth. I don't know but it is that bad.

When someone has no argument they retort to the classic ad hominem.

It's clear you don't comprehend basketball. People communicate indirectly all the time. Perhaps, you're one of those people who does not comprehend nuance or the ability to critical think and consider the other side of the coin.

So to show you directly, because that is what you need apparently.

Aberdeen said this: "Need to be better prepared for the upcoming team."

That's on Pope making sure they are prepared. A coaches job is to prepare his team for the opponent. This is very evident if one player was not prepared. Yet, consistently the entire team was not "prepared."

Clearly, they were not prepared and in addition there are other elements involved that are messing with this team.

What's that saying?

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Um, anyone think it's a problem that he clearly was not mentioning Oweh as the leader on the team?

He straight up said I'm the leader.

There's your problem right there. In what world is a new transfer the leader or define themselves as the leader over the returning preseason all conference player.

Whattt

Oweh has not owned up to being a leader, he has had a s..tty start to what should have been him as a clear leader, and threat for An all conference player. Any apposing coach would be lying if they said him or Aberdeen deserve to be all conference so far, or show leadership.

you have no argument because you have no facts.

"Need to be better prepared for the upcoming team"

could be directed at pope or the coaching staff
or
could be directed at himself....maybe he wasn't paying attention during practice, maybe he wasnt focused enough during pre-game
or
could be directed at another teammate for not being prepared

each is equally plausible, but only one fits your agenda. you have ZERO idea are just reading tea leaves and filling in whatever bet fits your narrative. spin that conspiracy theory....

If one of the plausible interpretations of ‘we need to be better prepared’ is the coaching staff, then reading it that way isn’t a conspiracy. It’s literally one of the valid basketball interpretations you yourself acknowledged.

Nobody said it must mean Pope. I said it indirectly points to areas that fall under coaching responsibility, because preparation, scouting, and game-planning are coaching domains.

You’re treating any interpretation you don’t like as a ‘conspiracy,’ which isn’t an argument. It’s just a way to dismiss nuance.

If you have an actual basketball explanation for why the team wasn’t prepared, feel free to offer it. (doubt you could) Calling every interpretation a conspiracy isn’t critical thinking. We call that avoidance.

I dunno. Could be something.

Otoh I can remember a certain transfer who was captain of Tony Delk’s team and that seemed to work out okay.

Passion or not, these players are not very good. We aren't going to beat a ranked team or SEC road opponent this year.

Not at all. The best player isn’t always the leader of a team. Could there be a power struggle between guys who all want to be leaders or don’t want to be led? Absolutely. I’d say that’s where the issues come from. It seems like we’re a team where roles aren’t clearly defined OR guys are not happy with the role they’re given.

They are half-a$$ing it and "waiting" for the others to get healthy. Aberdeen flat said it.

What a trainwreck.
And when those guys do get back (if that EVER actually happens), these players will relax and just watch the injured guys go to work, and we'll still lose.

Injuries aren't the main problem here. The main problem is a lack of talent, a lack of ability, no leaders, only followers. We have a team of role players. Pope, and whoever else evaluated these guys as "pros," paid them millions, when they are, in fact, just average guys. There isn't a future NBA talent on this roster other than maybe Quaintance, who we haven't even seen yet. Average. Role players. Betas, not Alphas.

Doesn't surprise me. Those two do not seem to be playing well with each other. Oweh is expected to the leader but is basically useless. Aberdeen desperately wants to be the leader but plays selfish, which suggests to me he wants to be “the star” and not actually a leader.

The defense has to improve; the rebounding has to improve those are heart and hustle problem that can be fixed. The reason the offense is struggling is the team is not making shots and does not have the player down low to dump the ball down to that can get a basket anytime. That is the difference between this Kentucky team and North Carolina. They can't shoot either, but they can dump the ball down and get a basket when needed with Caleb Wilson. The Cats do not have a Caleb Wilson. The shooters are not hitting, and we have players taking many 3's that should not be shooting 3's. I do not see things improving much. Can JQ be the Cats Caleb Wilson? Maybe but he can't shoot the ball for Noah, Chandler, Aberdeen, etc... If the 3's don't fall this team will continue to struggle offensively. They must rebound and play defense though or they will get blown out again and again, and again.
