The Daily Northwestern is reporting that Rebecca Blank will not be able to serve as NU’s next President. Unfortunately she apparently has an aggressive form of cancer, so she will not be taking up the position.

In a message to the community, Rebecca M. Blank announced today, July 11, that she has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and will be unable to fulfill her role as the 17th president of Northwestern University.

Just received an email about our this. That’s very sad news. What will the university do now to fill the void now that she is unable to take on her leadership role? It will take time to do another search.
