With an experienced passing QB and a couple grad transfers helping the offensive line, UK WR group could have outstanding year. Also punt and kick return duo could be best in college football if they stay and are healthy.

Folks I'm sure Rich was a nice guy but he was a disaster as OC here

bad fit at UK..... smart football coach when it comes to design but no leadership skills.

I agree. Imo his play designs were incredible. His play calling was good. His connection with players seemed really, really lacking. Seems like the same with the staff.

Unfortunate for him because he's going to let his bright football mind practically go to waste simply because of lack of flexibility and other communication issues.

Experienced depth only issue. All the WR's that left, now Crowdus, Anthony and White are currently the three backups. The good thing is they are fast. Don't know about their route running or hands yet. But we do have a couple of four stars coming in with A Brown and Palmer.

I have to admit we did use the TE's a little more under Scangarello.
I don't have any numbers in front of me to substantiate that but I was disappointed in how we used, or didn't use, Cummings this year. He was a big part of our offense under Coen and completely disappeared this year. I don't think he caught a pass all year. And Upshaw disappeared also, which led him to transfer. I don't know how much his injury hindered his play but two years ago I thought he was gonna be a star before he left college.

When we went 2 tight so often at the end of the season to protect the QB it really cut into his opportunities. He originally wanted to play for Coen so it wouldn't surprise me if he came back to improve his stock in a Coen offense

Really Cummings only played as a freshman out of necessity. It was great to see such potential but others were just better options as te/h and we have major depth at wr.

Imo he'll get his chance yet but I'm afraid it won't be easy especially if Bates returns.

Agreed....Cumming played last year as Rigg was a glorified lineman and somebody had to be able to catch the ball from the TE position. I like Cummings stays, but he was a poor blocker at the TE position and Kattus is a way better blocker and DIngle, while no great blocker yet, is much better right now.

Point being, it's going to be hard Cummings to play over Kattus and Dingle.

Well also, Anderson coming in looks like a guy that could be ready to play right off. He is coming on in January so he will probably be ready to be in the rotation some with the way he can get open, catch the ball and block.

Scang's O used a true FB and that's where Cummings lined up at times. I don't recall Coen using a true FB. Still, Cummings was most excited on Twitter, don't recall the quote, but he was extremely happy to learn of Coen's return.

Given our lack of experienced depth at the X and Y WR I can see Cummings getting some run out there again. Use his height and strength to a mismatch against CBs. Definitely think he will be used more under Coen. He isn’t a great line blocker but he was pretty good the first year of blocking in space
