It's been reported that his family stayed in California, so I don't blame him for heading back. I've done enough long term assignments away from my family to "get it". That time away is time you can never get back. Wish he would have been able to bring them to Norman with him. We're losing a good one.

I wonder if they will look at the Houston defensive line coach that recruited Ed Oliver, a 5* they signed this year. Might help our recruiting in Texas.......Just spit balling here...

One of the reasons for Oliver going to Houston is that Houston gave his high school head coach a job. Spring Westfield is loaded with athletes so hiring the head coach will give them a head start on recruiting. The new head coach is the brother to the former head coach. So they are keeping it in the family.

Yeah, I kind of figured something like that happened, therefore the spitball comment.

I'm sure Bob will find someone we all like............

I think OU will hire a quality replacement, perhaps even an upgrade.
Stoops' recent hires have been very good.
I think this trend will continue.

I'm not too concerned with replacing him. This will happen. It's just more turnover which slows down the process of recruiting. Unless Stoops hires a 'recruiter', someone known for his past recruiting, or someone with roots in Texas, this turnover will most likely slow down the momentum of what was a very solid early start for 2017.

Poor recruiting performance at issue here? Did not bring in a single DT. Need at DL coach with strong Texas ties, not another Californian. IMO

I do not believe OU's plan was to load up on defensive tackles so it offered only one, Chris Daniels. When Daniels went elsewhere, OU shut down its defensive tackle recruiting....because there are seven DT's on the roster who are potentially very good....and I believe the progress of Lampkin, Gallimore and Garnett must have the coaches optimistic, not to mention Marquise Overton who played last year as a true freshman and showed well.
Wade, Walker and Romar are good veteran players who should also improve.

Terrific observation. No need to read too much into it or jump to conclusions.
