WVU Sports Communications Release

Lyons' Statement Concerning Twitter Comments

"We are aware of comments posted on Twitter by one of our employees on Sunday evening during the West Virginia vs. Maryland men's basketball game. Those comments do not in any way reflect the beliefs and core values of West Virginia University and its Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. As with all personnel issues, the athletic department will handle this matter internally. Moving forward, I expect our employees to demonstrate the spirit and sportsmanship that best reflects the West Virginia University Mountaineers."

It almost like Lyons carries around the following book, Being an Athletic Director for Dummies, and uses the
form letters in the back of the book.

That's not a bad point... ...but people buying into the, '...we'll handle this internally' crap isn't exactly healthy for WVU.

Next people will be making comments like, 'Whew, glad that's over with' and 'That wraps that situation up'. How is it over with and why is the situation suddenly wrapped up ?

Silly. ....and completely not true.

There's been two statements, so far, by Lyons. The first was a competency issue concerning the Compliance Department, and the second is a nepotism issue concerning the Head Basketball Coach's daughter.

We'll see how he deals with these once the dust settles and going forward.

Don't be exceedingly stupid. If she were working for IRS or VA, she would get a bonus. Some are trying to make it more than what it is. Shut up. Move on.
