Ex-NBA player McLemore gets prison sentence
A judge sentenced Ben McLemore to more than eight years in Oregon state prison after the former NBA guard was found guilty of raping and sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman in 2021.
Curious to see all the evidence they had but you can’t argue that it goes right along with many players they have had under Self. That’s awful. Apparently he wasn’t wealthy enough to get away with it.
It really is. This case seems a little different as it involved drinking and consent. His team mate said he seen her being active in seducing him, but they must have had something else to convict him. Seems like a bad thing all the way around but you have to be extremely careful these days. I have not been able to find anything related to the case the than basic information on the conviction.Definitely some questions of character with a lot of Self's players. Kind of sad it's not surprising.
The level of intoxication kind of makes things unclear. It would be hard to make a call unless there's something else like you said. I've only read the article you linked and the NYT article and didn't see any hint of that in those articles. It really is. This case seems a little different as it involved drinking and consent. I tell my son that if you get with a girl, especially one you don’t know or have never met to make sure you are 100% she’s ok with whatever you do(always but extreme caution here) and to never get in a situation involving drugs or alcohol. If I was a rich athlete I wouldn’t even try to get with a chick at a party. Asking for trouble.
They have a new law where that’s the minimum In the state on those charges. You can’t serve less. The level of intoxication kind of makes things unclear. Eight years is a lot of time.
It’s an older charge the trial just ended. It happened in 2021 I believe.I’m confused. Is this yet another new case or a sentencing from an existing Kansas depravity. With them, it’s hard to keep track. Coeds would be well advised to transfer away from that back alley university.
Mandatory minimum sentencing is just such a stupid idea. They have a new law where that’s the minimum In the state on those charges. You can’t serve less.
Thanks. Just a suggestion, in the title, might replace history with ‘rap sheet’.Mandatory minimum sentencing is just such a stupid idea.

Well, he’s made around $50 million in career earnings. That’s counting his overseas money. That’s awful. Apparently he wasn’t wealthy enough to get away with it.

So, I think he probably had great lawyers. Maybe he was guilty?
